~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Scooby & kkjetz:  I am so sincerely sorry!!  I can so relate to what you and yur SR's are feeling right now!!  This is my son's second time at boot.  He was processed out the first time because of a medical condition, after only 2 weeks in.  He called me - it was the saddest call!  I told him not to worry, it wasn't over & that we ,together would overcome this.  A medical procedure and 4 long years later, he was granted re-entry into the Navy.  This is his first time all-the -way through!  When your meant to do something and you have the perseverance to see it through, it will happen for you!!  Hang in there!  Prayers & heart felt support goes out to you & your SR's!!

scooby and kkjetz:  Prayers for your SRs too....so very sorry...hate when this happens last minute and throws family plans into confusion...after waiting so long to see yout SRs/sailors---they'll get get through this!.....Please also join the FIT group on here as your SRs continue their journey to becoming sailors.  All of you may want to contact the Photo Lab to order the PIR DVD after PIR Friday since I bet your SRs will want to see their divisions march.  It is $29, I believe, and is mailed a few weeks after PIR.  Here is the number:  847 578 6205

Comment by diannep on February 26, 2014 at 12:53am

kkjetz:  Correct....once they miss their own PIR, they don't get one.  However, the important thing is that they become sailors eventually....so prayers for all trying to accomplish this!

I'm confused on that, lovemynavygirl, since there is a BattleStations running on Thurs night for the next PIR group that she could participate in.  Wow....it is so hard last minute like this when families are getting ready to head to GL.

Normally they do get to run on Wed....however, they have 48 hours in between tries, and I believe they normally can only try M W F.  So that may be why she for sure won't be at PIR. She would not be eligible to run again until Fri.  I'm so very sorry.  Please join the FIT group on this site to get support while she continues to try to become a sailor!  Lots of prayers for her....please keep everyone on here posted on her progress.  This page will become an Alumni page after PIR so all can continue to post and stay in contact.

Heard from my SR she didn't pass her PFA (30 secs short) so she will not be graduating. She said she will run again Friday and call on Sat. Does anyone know why she doesnt get another chance tomorrow and until PIR so that there would be a chance she could PIR with her div?

Congratulations to all the new sailors and their families.  Let's keep those candles burning.  Prayers to everyone.

Comment by kkjetz on February 25, 2014 at 11:15pm

Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement. I'm sure they will get to try again, but I believe they go to FIT now. Since BS are now, they won't get to graduate with their division, which, if I'm correct, means when they graduate there is no PIR - they just quietly graduate and move on to their A school. Very sad for the SRs and parents alike.
