For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jason's mom. We are from Texas about 4 hours from SA. My son is an E3 also. So they will be in SA together. Keep in touch.
Kvalmera is your son a Corpsman? What Div? Where are you from?

Rate = Seaman Recruit, Seaman Apprentice, Seaman, Petty Officer 3rd Class, Chief...ect... btw: There is no such thing as "rank" for a Navy enlisted sailor. It is called "Rate". Only Navy Officers have rank.
Rating (job) = Electricians Mate (EM), Cryptologic Technician Maintenance (CTM), Boatswains Mate (BM), Electronics Technician (ET)...ect
Paygrade = E1, E2, E

My son is also going to San Antonio after RTC. Sadly, I will not be attending PIR. He has 4 slots and I just moved, just getting settled in, new job, etc so his girlfriend is going in my place along with his father, grandmother, etc. So I know PIR is March 1st and did I read that correctly, they will go directly to A school? No time off between?

Jason's mom. He will fly out most likely sometime Saturday. It could be early morning but if lucky it will be late Saturday so we can see them a little longer. Rate is his job. Will he be a Corpsman? Or MA. I know that he's two jobs go o SA Texas for A school? If he is a corpsman and will be with my son let me know and we will be sure to check on him when we are there. Take care.

taylormom, we are from Kansas City Mo. That really breaks my heart. I want him to come home even if it's for a couple days. Graduation is Friday, do you know if he will have the weekend free or does he leave Saturday for "A" school? I'm so sorry I don't know what rate means

I received my letter on Wednesday. He said it was not to bad. My son will be going to "A" school in Texas after graduation. Does anyone know how that works? Will he get to come home before going to Texas? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new at this
