~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks LALA Ribbon Queen - I appreciate that,  We are a supportive family and she is a strong determined woman.  She was the one who sought out the recruiter, researched and made the decision all by herself.  I just have the lingering, sinking feeling.  I want this so badly for her - and she does too.  I wanted to get a "Proud Navy Mom" shirt and window decal before she left, but she didn't want me to jinx her.

I don't think anyone wants any recruit to fail - RDC's are there to make sure they succeed.  They are spending quite a bit of money to train these young men & women.

I think I'm going to have to purchase the "Proud Navy Mom" shirt now that she's gone -

Good Morning All!!!!

Your letters are coming!!!!   My first letter was much like Lala's .... My son said  WHAT THE HELL IS THIS PLACE...but did't say he hated it. He did say  "the first thing they did was pull a group of us out and made us HANG UP BRAS for the girls...    and on an on... I cried when i opened the mailbox  ... then found myself laughing hysterically...   i have a box a very LARGE box full of his letters ...  and ALL of the rest of his mail he received while in boot... yea he gave me ALL his mail at PIR!!!!!   I'd like to put the ALL in a scrap book some day,    HAVE A GREAT NAVY DAY

I'm not sure of an official percentages but I believe I have seen others say about 10% don't finish. The thing is on this site we see less than that. We normally see maybe one or two for the whole PIR group that doesn't finish. Some groups we don't hear of any that didn't. So it seems that the recruits who have very supportive families who take the time to seek out this website and facebook actually have a better chance of finishing. That my theory and I think others would agree :) So we are glad you are here and I am sure your daughter is going to do fine :)

♥FireTeamLeaderWife♥ aka FTLW - I am confident my daughter will succeed and do well, but there is a lingering question in the back of my mind.  How many SR's don't actually make it through Boot Camp?

My brother was sent home 30 years ago as he was unable to jump off of the platform into the water. He had issues with his knees.  At the time, they were looking to thin out the amount of recruits.

I know things has changed dramatically in that time, but just wondering.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here.

Please do not start new Division Discussions.

Discussion Forum Area

This is the place to start a Discussion about a topic and for your Division Discussions.

The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)

It is also set to show the "latest activity"(there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter or even a period and add the reply.

When you view a DF by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

Example (Last Reply is underlined)

You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

I have ADDED your Divisions Discussions up above as well as a Discussion for your MEET and GREETS .Sarge and Flanagans have not caught up to this PIR date yet. I will add the links as soon as they are available.

~Please use your Division Discussions to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here...you all have developed such a nice group!

Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-80 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

I will tell you when my first letter arrived I was so excited to open it and read it. I read the first line; "Hi Mom, I cried myself to sleep the first night" Well that was all it took. I started crying, couldn't even read the rest and was ready to get in the car and go get her. I was sitting on the porch with the letter in my hands and tears falling down my face when my hubby came home. He thought something horrible had happened. I handed him the letter and him being a man, he read the whole thing. he looked at me with this puzzled look and said why are you crying? she's fine. Then I was finally able to read the rest of the letter and know she was doing okay. Those first letters and sometime the first call can be really hard. But as each letter and phone call comes you will be able to hear and tell the difference in them. It gets better every week and they will going from hating it and hating the RDC's to loving it and thinking their RDC is the best ever. The transformation is amazing and you are going to love it. So hang in there and keep writing those encouraging letters, every day if you can :) They can do this and so can you and when you need us we are here to help you.
