Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Dylansmom - Here is a link to this PAGE:PIR: What to Wear/Bring and Tips; PIR Reference Group/Forum links; ...

As far as "official" stuff. What you have stated is the "important" stuff for entry onto the base and for the ceremony.

5timesblessed..... holy crap you aren't kidding about bittersweet... My younger son is going to MEPS tomorrow and will be there thru wednesday for the ARMY..  i know NOTHING of the army and their processes ...  went to the goarmyparents page... yup NO WHERE NEAR as good as N4M.  AND COULDNT the Army wait until AFTER PIR????  Anyway .... HUGE BRAVO ZULU to this group....  you guys are ALMOST THERE!!!!

Comment by diannep on February 25, 2013 at 2:38pm

...however, we do not think anyone went through BattleStations last night...you never know, but not what I was told.  Doubtful any will get calls now before the I'm a Sailor call after BattleStations....but that one will be a great one!

On the PIR lineup, the flag carriers ("sticks") will be in the front of the division along with the division leaders.  Beyond that, not sure how they figure who stands where.  My son was one of the shorter ones and he was kind of stuck in the middle....we never saw him the entire time.  :-(    Thank goodness he ordered the PIR DVD which is when I finally got to see him as he passed the Review Stand!

Thank your for your wonderful offers, plum and jakesmom! My SR will have other family there, but I would really appreciate a photo, as long as it doesn't cause you to neglect your own SR.  I bet my SR would like the hugs, too.

5timesblessed, without giving out BS dates (not allowed to post on the internet) I will explain what to expect :) Battlestations are held over night and finish early in the morning with the capping ceremony. they they have to clean, eat, get hair cuts and a lot of things to get done. Then in the afternoon the calls will start and run into the evening. Calls normally start around 2pm central time. So keep that phone close by and tell other family members to do the same because they can make more than one call :) So if your BS was last night your calls should be this afternoon :)
