~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Well, maybe a few with that attitude helped them grow into a positive force! Maybe they ALL feel like their division does not function well at first. It must take a lot of hard work to get that many people to work together and use teamwork. Please let me know what your son says in your pile of letters! I'm hoping for one more next week!

Sandi. This is great news. I hope my letter is good this week then. Maybe he just expected to much. My son has always wanted everything prefect and just do what you are told. Lol. Not much patience for people. Not even me. Lol. He puts a lot of pressure on himself also. Looks like they did good. Yay. Can't wait to see what he has to say.

Jen-What a great idea! Your daughter must have loved that!
Just got a letter. My son says that Division 101 is ranked #1. (Hope you see this, Taylormom!) He says they did the tear gas on Saturday and it was incredibly painful :( Also said he gained 10 pounds which is a good thing for him! He sounds very happy in the letter and excited to be almost finished! I hope every one of you will find a letter tomorrow or Friday!

5timesblessed, The parking pass from PIR is not really a pass on to base on the TSC side, the gate guard is the one to make the call as to whether you can drive on to base or not, but they did look at ours every time we were at the gate.

If where you are staying isn't too far from base, go back there for a couple hours after PIR, and take a break. The phone call from my son was 3 1/2 hours after PIR, and there were only five divisions, so it will take a while.

classicplghtg, They cannot have their phone until Friday evening after returning from liberty. They can use their calling card to make the call to you on Friday, but like I said, some are offered a cell phone from another sailor to make that call.  My phone rang Friday afternoon and I hesitated answering it, it was a call from Washington state, his "roommate" let him borrow his phone.

Make yourself a note to ask for the password from your son when you get the "I am a SAILOR" call if you haven't already received it from him. I am sure one of his division mates that is around will know it. You can print the pass up until the morning of PIR.

classic:  The GL A School students cannot take their cell phones when they move over to that base from RTC after PIR.  They need their phone card to call you...or hopefully some can "borrow" the cell of a sailor already in school there.  Once you return them from their first Liberty time with you, they can return with their phones.

Those staying on RTC PIR night cannot have their phones.  You must meet them at the airport the next day (most fly out then) to hand them their phones.

ellen0502 thanks for info can they have their phone to call us otherwise can they use their calling card from another phone. if not when can they have their cell phone; I am bringing it with me. My son never gave me a password cause he forgot to put form letter in mail i called POA and they told me his division has the same password and he could write it to me  and for some reason he must think they have different ones cause he told me he would ask when things calm down .typical of my son he did tell me we were on his guest list but i wont be able to park i will have to walk hopefully he will send it time is almost here and i am nervous.he is in division 104.

5timesblessed - I found my father-in-laws group photo from bootcamp - 1951.  It was such a large photo, I couldn't scan it at home.  Took it to the local photo store and had it digitized.  He was division 918 - his granddaughter is 914.  Printed the photo along with a photo of my father in his Navy uniform - 1947.  Used that for stationary to write to my daughter.  She can be proud of the Navy tradition.
