Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

hi ladies i really want to share this with u all yesturday i got to work and the was a huge bundle of roses waiting my arival. the card attached said sweet cheeks allthough we atr miles apart our hearts beat as one wish i could be tgere to give these in person i love akways and forever honeybee"i dont know how he did it but it was absolutly amaing and thoughtful. i also got a letter saying that his ship mates helped hiim plan ahead, soawesome they have gotten that close

You are correct, Barby. Mail is forwarded to their A School but we know how that goes... So either stop writing a week before PIR...or....copy the letters you send after that time and take with you to PIR in case they didn't arrive.
jax: It is amazing how they all eventually come together as a division!

one other thing guys................ you have 2 weeks to go.... I think my group stopped sending mail about 7 days before PIR... because they would be gone to A school by the time it rolled in... Other VET MOMs chime in if im correct...Its been a year so im trying to remember...

Thank you,for the flag info!! if our boys have 6 guess we are doing better!! and Breezie: her letter is written, addressed and will be in the mail tomorrow morning! I hope it helps her out!! We moms need to help out all we can!!!

Ladies who friend requested me for BattleStations info, please check the comments on your page.
Breezie: I would just offer encouragement to that SR in your letter...maybe ask some questions about her and tell her you hope she writes back. So many would love to have someone to write to.
sassy: She will get to try and pass that run up until BattleStations for her division. If she hasn't passed by then, she will be put in FIT Division to keep trying (M-W-F they get to try). When she passes, she will do BattleStations with the next group going through and be at her PIR. If she doesn't pass it before her PIR, she will stay in FIT until she does pass (as long as she is improving, she gets lots of chances). Once she passes, she does Battlestations, then straight to A School, no PIR. Sooo....prayers for wings on her feet! :-)
