Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Oh no Felicia, I really hope you and everyone else makes it in time for PIR. You all may want to private message each other and share phone numbers in case someone can't get there in time. That way you can have someone look for your Sailor and explain where you are and if you will still be there just a bit later.

jax: You do plan to meet him at the airport, right? They are bussed out in the wee hours, but their planes usually don't start leaving before about 6 a.m. (at the earliest) and many wait much later than that. The airport visits are a nice time! Take ID and get a gate pass (with your sailor with you) so you can wait until his plane departs at the gate. That is also when you can give him his undies and phone! :-) He can't take those back to RTC with him.
You will have plenty of time to explore Chicago...and if you head the opposite direction, you can check out Wisconsin! So lots to do. Taking the train into Chicago is something many suggest. Parking in Chicago can be expensive...
So....what color did your hair turn out to be after the dye was in for so long??? HA! SO glad you got such a good call!

mine sounded good but it was hard to tell cause he was stuffing his face with zebra cakes-LOL, mike mommies coming!!!! and yes i have your undies and phone! plus a suite case full of junk food so you can indulge. He is leaving friday @ midnight :( but im staying till Monday...guess i'll see the sights or maybe take another sailor to lunch.

Received my call from my Sailor he sounds so good had a red bull already asked for a few things luckily i have them already now i can go peacefully:)

so as soon as i put hair dye in, my sr called, way beyond the recommended time my dye was supposed to be in, think I care-He is a Sailor!!! and now my hair went from golden brown to Elvira black. Congratulations 104, we all knew you could do it!!!!
