Anyone's recruit on this ship and Division?

Hi Melissa, my son is there. I received the box last Tuesday and the "letter" on Thursday. I'm getting better, but I do tear up sometimes. This website has been a God send. It is comforting to know I am not alone in my feelings. I made reservations this evening at the Ramada Inn. The shuttle service sold me. My SR will be able to ride back on the shuttle to the hotel where his family will be staying. Yours is going to San Antonio right? I'm sure it is quite possible our sons know each other through this process and will go on together. One thing I do when I write my SR, is when I run across others, I write the name down on the legal pad I have next to the computer and mail to him. The day I got his address, I mailed 6 letters. My husband and I collect vintage founatin pens. My SR knows this. So writing my SR with a great writing instrument has been very theraputic. Lisa D. Dayton, Ohio
I am not sure where my son is going, I am sure they know each other by now. it has been really rough on me as well. You are so right this site is a God send. I have been so out of sorts. I have actually been typing my letters because my son says he can not read my writing of course I say I can not read his either. Just to let you know there is a Face Book page for the Navy as well it is the link is https://apps.facebook.com/forumforpages/324592704650/9be24d0c-89b3-...
You may need to like the page so you can post things. My mother is coming with me and my husband and my daughter. We are not sure where we are staying yet. My father is prior military and my mom can still get base housing at the hotels on base. I did ask her to check into the Ramada as well due to the shuttle service. She is having USAA check the rates they can get us.

Hi Lisa, I am just re-reading some of these earlier posts. So it appears that the 3 of us have SR's going to San Antonio. I think it is so cool that you write with fountain pens! My former husband has several he uses but I never could get the hang of them. His most treasured one is a Waterman (I think that's the name of it). I am finding it hard not hearing from my SR at all. There is a link to site that is called Navy DEP.com and gives a day by day description of what they are doing. I am finding it comforting.

My son Eric is also on Ship 09, Division 075. I got his address from his recruiter the day after he left. I don't know if they gave them their mail on this past Sunday. I doubt it since most people just got their address. Booking flights today out of Maine and finding a hotel. Week one went fast. I'm sure the next 7 will as well....I hope!!!!
Dont forget the trivia contest today on FB hopefully one of us can win it so we can get a photo.
Melissa
How does that work? (meaning the trivia contest on FB)
Hi Melissa, yes I have the FB page bookmarked. Will help on the trivia if I can today.
Great. Also I found out my son is staying in Chicago for MM school is what his recruiter called it. I assume Machinist Mate school. I also hope the days will go by fast. I am sure they will
Ladies, I just had to share with you. My SR's 14 year old brother stayed home from school today due to "stomach hurts". I had plans which I followed thru on. When I returned home, he was in his brothers bed. I just stared. Got teary eyed. It was so sweet. He has already written his brother. I also have an enevlope already addressed to the SR and stamped so when he writes he just shoves it in the envelope and its off. Now time with him and Netflix!
Aww how sweet. My daughter also misses her brother, we can not bear to go in his room and left it just like he did.(a mess) I was joking with him before he left and said ya when you leave I am going to have my office and guest room and change the whole thing. The dogs always slept at the foot of his bed, they waited next to his door for the first week after he was gone so I could let them in so they could lay down with him, they have finally realized he is not there. They were so sad. You dont realize how it effects everyone not just us moms
Hi RobbiesMom,
For Trivia: http://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand... they post a trivia question every Tuesday at 10:00 PST. I just found this out myself today. Good luck!!
I hope one of us can win the Trivia Tuesday, I want so badly to see pictures. Seeing them will make me feel better. Also if you click on Forums on FB you can meet all the other mom's that are also in our division as well. I started a thread for our division a few days ago. This is what is keeping me busy in my down time just being able to talk to other mom's has helped tremendously. Have any of you booked flights and hotel? We did last night. They suggested refundable tickets but they are to expensive for my wallet. there was a $600 difference. My mother and I decided we would take our chances.
