Ship 09, Div 075, I did not put the PIR Date on when I set up the forum.  Happy to meet you Tonja!!

I got mail yesterday and FINALLY got an answer to the Pictures and Keel.  He said he definately wants the $140 package and to put the money on his debit card that he has with him from home.  They can order them next week.  He said he was glad they took his picture in his dress blues, he said he likes them better than the white.  He said the Division is really coming together with Marching which he thought would never happen and looking forward to Battle Stations.  All in all his letter was extremely upbeat.  He cannot WAIT for graduation and he said right after graduation he is "getting the hell out of there and heading for Chicago".  He doesn't want to see anything colored GRAY, I will have to make sure out rental car isn't gray.  :-)

I did not get a letter :( i was so bummed last night.

Chefongreen you are so right,  I was half asleep still when I got on this morning.   YAY I gain an hour of sleep.   LOL of course I probably won't be able to sleep anyway with all the excitement.

Kimmic,  I am with you and Chefongreen,  not a dirty martini type of gal but will do a seabreeze or rum and coke I may be sitting right next to you both.   LOL

I'm thinking I need to change my name on here so it matches my FB.

I'm getting excited....these next 2 weeks will be hell weeks for us! Waiting and waiting!

I think once we get where we are going that Thursday, it won't matter. We will be there. HOOKAH!

Do you know how hard it is going to be to drive by RTC without being able to stop by and just say hi to our recruits the day before Graduation.   I think it is just going to about kill me knowing I am in the same town and a mile or so away but have to wait till the next day to see him.    I like the HOOKAH thing.   that post on FB was funny from RTC.

OH I KNOW...just being in the same city... practically outside the gate.. saying... just bring him to the gate....  when I went thru PIR way back in 1988... the thursday before PIR was a welcome nite.. small details marched to the gate... and your parents were outside waiting... YES got to see my folks the day before.. IT WAS AWESOME.... wish they still did that..

Ladies - wait to you drive past and see how big the base is.  I have been by twice before he left.  I couldn't believe how far on the road it goes.  Who knows how far back it goes up against Lake Michigan. I did love seeing the Taco Bell, Subway, etc from the street.  Unfortunately, they don't get to go there now.

It is just north of some very wealthy neighborhoods on Sheridan Road.  Beautiful houses and mansions run along Lake Michigan.  Waukegan is north of the base and is not too pretty.  I think our hotels will be fine, but not the best area.  I was kind of afraid to mention that before...

So definitely take a drive south of the base.  Lake Forest, IL is where many of the Chicago Bears live and probably some Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, too. Other cities along there are Wilmette, Winetka and Glencoe.  Just gorgeous.  My daughter wants to go to Lake Forest College.  It is a beautiful campus but quite expensive.  I can hardly wait now!

OK.....I changed my pic here and on FB to the same pic. It was taken at MEPS in Columbus on 1-5-12, the day he left.

@Melissa...WAY Hard to drive by.

OK Navy Family...TGIF! Any plans for the weekend? Going to walk to the theatre today to see the Artist. That's all I got going for today. Date day! Spouses favorite show comes on a 9, so we have to be home. Which means, while he is watching, I'll be on here!

im changing my fb pic to that day too,  its my SR waving goodbye as he gets into his recruiters car..   no plans for the weekend.. we are expecting 3 inches of snow... BIGGEST snowfall of the season,...  a flake of snow freaks out the town and it practically shuts down..hahahha

OMG 14 DAYS TO GO LADIES....FINALLY.... he left MEPS in Louisville 11-07-11

My FB pic is right after the swearing in at MEPS on 4 Jan 2012!  I am at work and it's gonna be a long day with things to do this evening (Friday nights my Sabbath) with my wonderful congregation who are SO supportive of my SR.  Most of them have known him since he was about 8. I will check back with y'all as I can.  TGIF is right.  14 DAYS!!!!!!!

I might be there with my white wine!  We lose 2 hours I think.  And who's going to be sleeping the night before?

OOOOOO DID I HEAR WINE????????
