@Salad71 - It all depends on the division and the RDCs, but I would keep my phone on me at all times. It could come at anytime. We got one this past Sunday and had just received his form letter on the Thursday prior to that. Maybe you will get one this coming weekend.

Salad, we got one this past Sunday from son in Div #917.  And some others have received too so keep your phone on and close!  You should be old hat at this by now, lol.  ;)

@diannep - My son is ship 2 div 917. When he called Sunday he told me that they were actually allowed to write last Sunday the 11th and this past Sunday the 18th, but neither would be sent out until today because of the holiday yesterday. That is why I kinda have my hopes up for a letter come Thursday or more likely Friday. Fingers are crossed

Does anyone know when they get their first call home- except for security clearance reason?

Got my form letter today! Ship 11 Div 106! I see a lot of. Mom's here with kids on the same ship! This is my 3rd kid to go through RTC. I had one grad 3/26/2010 and the other 12/21/2011. So here goes my 3rd and final accession for the Navy! Andmy 3rd time wearing my dress Blues in the fridige cold! Why could none of my kids grad in the Summer or spring? Oh well... Just glad they were all fit to join. Good luck Mom's and we are well on our way! One week down!

Not sure this group will have received mail yet....if so, they were able to write you for the first time too....always collecting it on Sunday, mailout on Mondays.  Once they receive their held mail (held for about 2 weeks until Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained), they will RECEIVE mail M-F but can only mail out on Mondays.

Hoping that this week, you all will get mail (every division is different)....but thinking that it is more probable that this coming Sunday would be the day they get their mail and can finally write to you.

Thanks FTLW :)

adpsmom - Yes., he will get his mail. When they are SIQ they are in their racks (bunk) usually. My son did not have his wisdom teeth out in BC (already done at home) but he was sick for most of BC and was SIQ one weekend in his rack.

Here is a picture and in the backround the recruits you see sitting in their racks are SIQ:

Oh my gosh, I love the count down clock!

So, I am hopeful that our SRs will start getting some mail today and that maybe we will get a real letter later this week. Does anyone know if they get mail if they are SQ? My son told me that he is going to have to get his wisdom teeth pulled and I am pretty sure that will happen this week. I am hoping he will still receive mail during that time!
