For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ship 03 (USS Hopper) Divisions 109 and 110 (Brother Divisions)
Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 109 and 110.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

3boysmom, I don't know much more about FTS. What my daughters recruiter told me pretty much reflects what I've found online.
This is from the navy reserve website:
"Navy Full-Time Support (FTS) – This program allows Reservists to perform full-time Active Duty service in positions that support the training and administration of the Navy Reserve Force. Members receive the same pay, allowances and benefits as Active Duty members. One advantage of FTS over regular Active Duty is that members typically serve for longer periods at any assigned locations."
I also found this on the navy.mil website:
"FTS enlisted personnel serve in administrative and operational billets at Naval Reserve Centers, Naval Air Reserve Centers, Personnel Support Detachments, Naval Reserve ships, and Naval Reserve squadrons. While most billets are in CONUS (continental United States), some overseas billets on major staffs are available." -

Anyone else staying at Mariott for PIR?
also, wondering if anyone knows if a laptop will fit in their bags to take to A. School or should I just plan on shipping it later? -

A laptop will fit into their backpack. The one my son got (a year ago) was designed to hold one since they will be using them for A School too.

No I do not think he is. My understanding is once he is done with school he will come back home and then just do his one weekend a month and two weeks out of the year unless he is deployed.

No calls here. My husband told me after week 5 div 109 can make calls. This is the beginning of week 5 if I'm correct

For what my son told us when he last called Feb 6 was 3-1 ... That would make today 4-4 if yesterday was a holiday ... or 4-5 if not ... I am guessing they are 4-4 today. That makes Feb 28th the first day after week 5 ... I am hoping we do not have to wait that long ... but maybe we will have to! I hope they are pulling it together ... Sounded like they maybe were struggling as a division ... I would love to hear how they are doing now!

I think ProudDad is right. Today is 4-4. Thursday, February 21st should be 5-1. My SR daughter puts the training day on all her letters, so I went to my calendar and put the days in appropriately (not counting weekends and holidays). Yes, she has written over and over that they are struggling in getting along and working together as a team. I have asked my church friends, Facebook friends, and of course the other parents here to keep Division 109 in prayer. Praying they have come together as we speak!!!

Hm maybe you are right. I thought we were in week 5 now, but I'm honestly not sure. I hear their division is struggling as well and I pray they can get it together so we could hear from our SRs.
