For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Sailors transferring to “A” School Outside of Great Lakes: If your new Sailor is attending “A” School outside of Great Lakes, generally they will depart RTC the day after graduation. Travel arrangements are made by RTC, therefore Sailors are required to travel on their government orders. If your Sailor is flying out of state they must travel to the airport using government transportation, you may not escort them to the airport; however, you may meet them at the airpor

Won't say that never happens, but very rare....however, it shows that if people can, they should try and stay until Sunday because you never know what their travel schedule will be.

From RTC WEBSITE "Upcoming Graduations" page:

The number of guests allowed per recruit is dependent on the number of divisions in the training group.

12 or fewer divisions within the training group: FOUR guest maximum per recruit.

13 or more divisions within the training group: THREE guest maximum per recruit.

Comment by KDSmom on February 5, 2015 at 6:09pm: Hi Concerned Mom & Dad- It is nice to meet someone else whose son is going to Florida. I would hope maybe they are friends. What is your son's rate(job)? Glad I could help with the info. I received a letter from my son today saying he is not leaving for Florida until the Monday after PIR. I don't know how he knows this yet. I was told they don't find out until shortly before PIR or the day of. Maybe you can find out from your son in a letter. We will be staying until Saturday night to have the day with him hopefully. We can't stay an extra day because we have too many animals and it is a lot to ask of someone. At least when they get to Florida we will be able to talk to them more.

I sooooo wish I could find out before hand and let each and every one of you know exactly!

I do, I do, I do!

Because I know just how frustrating it can be.
Here is what happened to me:

Our PIR was on a Thursday.

It was Memorial Day Weekend.

He said in a early call that he was told that they would leave Friday AM.

So I kvetch about plans for a week or so.

FINALLY decide that I don't want to risk losing time with him. Soooo.... Kinda had the funds and did have the time to stay extra days.

So I did.

Sailor was in early Division and had BST first, on the Thursday a week before PIR.

Called and said was told he was flying out Friday AM.

Flew over still thinking he would leave the Friday AM

He calls WHILE I am flying over on Tuesday to let me know it was all changed and that he would not be flying out until Sunday AM. He repeated it several times to make sure I understood!

I did not get the message though until we were safely ensconced in the Navy Lodge Tuesday PM.

GLEEFULLY posted on my PIR Group and thanked Veteran Moms (One of which was diannep :-D) for their advise!

If not for them I would not have known to do so.
