N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I checked Sunday and Monday flights and the only ones to Pensacola are at 8:50am on both days. You won't have much time if that is the case. I guess you have to weigh out the costs of another hotel night and more expensive flight. If you are willing to do it then stay the extra night. Good luck!

*more often on SATURDAY, not Sunday....

Comment by diannep on February 4, 2015 at 11:26am

Good Morning!

ConcernedMom&Dad:  Can you stay until Sunday, just in case?  KDsmom may be right, that they will take one of those flights out on Sat....but you never know---sometimes some of the sailors will leave on Sunday, but more often on Sunday.  So if you can stay until Sunday, you will be sure not to miss time with your new sailor.  If your sailor leaves on Sat., then you have time to sightsee!  Neat area to sightsee in!

I will be posting BattleStations info (their final test) up in the discussions now.

Concerned Mom & Dad - I have a son in Ship 14 Div 111 who is also going to Pensacola. I did a little research and the only nonstop flights from O'Hare on Saturday March 14 are at 8:50 and 10:05am. The only one from Midway is at 6:55pm. I am pretty sure they only fly nonstop but you never know.  My husband and I are looking to leave from O'Hare around 12:00pm Saturday. Hopefully we get to spend a little time with our son even it means getting up at 3:00am to be there. There are just so many variables so it is hard to predict. Hopefully it helps a little.

Your Division Discussions have been posted up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here.

Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We can have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-90 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

Division discussions now open for business!!

POST AWAY!!

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here.

Please do not start new division discussions!!!!

The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)

It is also set to show the "latest activity" (there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

When you view a discussion forum by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

~You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

Please let me know if I have made an error in the ship number of your SRs division.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on February 4, 2015 at 3:21am

Concerned Mom & Dad - Unfortunately no, there is no way to find out for sure when his departure is in advance.

The Sailors do not find out their itinerary until a day or two before PIR...sometimes not until the day of PIR.

The "norm" is that the Sailors having A school other than at Great Lakes fly out on Saturday. The Navy makes every effort to get them to their A schools ASAP. This depends on flight availability and that is the usual reason for Sunday departures...again, which are not as common but can occur.

We advise that IF you have the time and funds available to you then to book through until Sunday or Monday. If your Sailor leaves on Saturday then you can use the time to rest and/or sight see.

Good Evening Ladies! Frequent reader, first time poster. Does anyone else have loved one on Ship 14 DIV III? Would love to compare notes! Also, my son ships out to FL after PIR. Have so much input from this site, my head is spinning :) Uncertain when to book departing flight. Would be heartbroken to depart Sat. if his flight leaves Sun. If his flight leaves Sun., will depart Monday. Any way to find out in advance when he departs? Thank you!  Kindest Regards, Concerned Mom

Dear Beloved Group,

I am sorry that I have been MIA. Pressing Family matters.

I will be back later on to catch up. I hope you are all doing well.

When I have to be "absent" I so try to make sure that Private messages get answered, so don't hesitate or feel like you are bothering me if you wish to do that. I make it the priority when I am limited on Group time.
