Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So excited that I got my letter and actually also got a call today from my son!  Does anyone have a recruit in ship 14 div 117?

Hello fellow family members of PIR 3/20/15!  My son left St. Louis for GL a week ago today but it seems like a month ago..I am proud, scared, curious and much much more!  Would someone be able to comment on what address we can send letters to?  Or can we?  I've not seen or heard anything on this yet.  Thanks!

Welcome to the new members!  Remember, the "Ship" is their barracks....and each one contains 12 divisions, not all in the same PIR group.  The important number is the Division number....those are the SRs who will know each other, along with their brother division---they all will train together.

The brother divisions go like this:  odd number is paired up with the following even number....i.e., 105/106 as an example.  So be watching for more to join the group and note what division their SR is in.  You can then friend request them if in your division or brother division. Click on their picture here which takes you to their page, then select Add a Friend to send them a request.  Once they accept, they will either email you back (which will be in your Inbox, above right corner of this page), or you will see their pik on YOUR page under the Friends section!

Get ready for an exciting journey!

Hello all. My daughter is on Ship 03 DIV 114. Any other moms of daughters of this same ship or sons who are brothers to? Thank you to all of the members for their help and support through this great site!

Hello! Welcome to your PIR Group!

You can call me FTLW, it's easier :-)

My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 28 years…I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments. Now working on Retirement process from AF and soon from Civilian job. Our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom and volunteer on the PIR groups mostly.
