OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So glad for a call from my daughter. Her form letter address was incorrect. She is: Ship 14/Div 113.
Unexpected phone calls are the best! A great reminder to always have your phone nearby and ringer on because you never know.

MurraysMom, my husband left without a calling card. He said they were able to purchase them with their NEX cards.

Hopefully you hear from your son soon! Fingers crossed that you will! :)

MurraysMom - My son left Jan 21st.  I did send him with a calling card, but have also heard not to worry if you didn't.  I think I read something about them getting one in a ditty bag, but I'm a newbie, so I could be wrong.  You definitely can mail one, though.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that you will hear something soon!  Sending a hug your way!

Congrats to everyone that got a call! I wish we all would get them :) I have read some mom's haven't gotten any and PIR is 3/7

Strawberry and doubleAA'smom - when did your son's leave for BC? Did either of you send them WITH a calling card? I did not. Other mom's have told me not to fret about this, but I'm just worried he won't have a way to call home. He left Jan 15th and I still have not received a call. :-(

graidar5 - I'm doing the same thing. :-(

I got a call from my husband this morning!! :) He was really down at first, but just being on the phone really perked him up. He also said they just started PT yesterday; they've been in processing since they got there. He's in DIV 114.

I received a call this morning.  My son says Div. 111 RDC is really tough.  He has already sent some people home and has been known for cutting the 80 down to about 50.  They usually win alot of flags, though, and come out tougher.  His bunk mate's last name starts with F.  My son's initials are MW.  They are still working on getting the marching right.  They are  in week 1 Day 1 if I heard correctly.  Anyone else heard anything?  I was so surprised to get a call so soon.

I hope I get a call today!! Just staring at the phone now :)

I also got a call.  Unfortunately, we had trouble connecting, so I didn't really get to talk to son...not enough time.  Kind of bummed out now.  :(  Maybe he'll write tomorrow and I'll get a letter.

Thanks courneya for letting us know what you're hubby had to say! It helps!

My husband gave me the best wake up call ever today. :) It was only a quick 4 minute phone call but he is doing great. He told me they weren't as derogatory as he expected and really try not to cuss at them. Really it is nothing like he has expected. He said they (DIV 112) would be able to write tomorrow for those of you waiting for a letter.
