That's great Navywife_Nuke! Makes sense, Nukes do have a long school.

I just wasn't sure, especially with the time frame for the other wife that was presented.

Theresa:  Good to know that Expedia doesn't charge change/cancellation fees for their bookings.  Do they charge you a fee at all for booking the room, or is the rate they quote all you pay?

QuilterD;  Do you mind me asking what hotel it was?  And did your hubby book through the AAA agency rather than using a AAA discount?  We love to pass on ways for people to save money on here, so would be very interested in knowing the full story so we can share it with other groups!  Thanks!  Was it possibly Marriott's Residence Inn?

Comment by diannep on February 8, 2015 at 3:54pm

Theresa:  I think you may get your answer from your post on the Nuke site.  Normally they can't come home from school until it is completed (unless on a holiday standown, like at Christmas, when the bases partially shutdown and sailors may route a chit to go home on their Leave days), but like you said, with Nukes' school being so long, it may be different.  Is there a chance that you all can visit HIM there once he phases up and can spend some time off base?  He will know more about that once he checks into A School.

Comment by diannep on February 8, 2015 at 3:48pm

QuilterDi:  Hubby must have booked with a discount travel site?  Because the AAA discount is usually not more than 10 or 15 percent....so thinking that he found a deal on a travel discount site.  As long as you can cancel with no penalty if your SR is delayed ....so be sure to know the rules of your discount site....there was a poor lady on here a couple of years ago, desperately trying to "sell" someone her room because it was non-refundable through a travel discount site and she couldn't use it (don't remember if SR was delayed or discharged, or she had personal reasons for not going).

Hi Jodie, I got a call yesterday but none today.

Hi Theresa711. My sister went to the meet and greet a few years ago and said the baskets everyone did was something representing their home state. I am from MS so I will do something from there

Has anyone gotten any calls today?
Comment by Navywife_Nuke on February 8, 2015 at 10:59am
I have talked to other Nukes and wifes as well.they do not want then starting a school until they have their family with them. It is because nukes are different than any other job and have so much schooling. I have been doing a lot of research. They will get one day to come home and pack, one day to move and then one day for every 350 miles you have to go.
