This is the place to come to vent LilBigMansMom!! So glad you did! We "get" you! Your friends mean well...at the same time...you find out who your real friends are...the ones that don't get it, but stand by you. I had plenty that didn't but were very supportive...have had all the comments but then I have been at this for 27 years and most all of you are just starting...but I do understand!
Praying for that letter and/or call...and remember as a hope for the future..."A" school will bring all that communication back!
I know I'm really missing my SR woke up this morning after having a dream about him & woke up crying :( It makes for a Rotten Day at work & No one understands what I'm going through, I'm tired of everyone telling me "you got to let him go" or "Its going to make him a better man" that's not the point he has moved away from home before & I truly support his decision and he is already a good young man this is going to make him a better man. I just don't like the non-communication & not knowing how he is doing!!! I really try to keep in mind "No news is good news" But we have such a wonderful relationship & I'm so use to him talking to me or texting me or facebooking me.
Sorry I just had to vent & I just can't wait to get a letter or a phone call, I already feel a littler better.
On a different note, Is there anyone with Ship 11 Div 101 interested in ordering ribbons & scarfs and if so what colors do you think????
I wanna get away too lol, I have actually never flown :-) But I would like to... especially now to a tropical warm place on a beach.
Thanks Lala..I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have never used the wanna get away deal before but they do offer no change fees just in case. I have had good experiences with Southwest.
Cathie that is a very good deal. I have seen people pay that for just one person to fly up there. Great deal :-)
I purchased flight tickets right through Southwest airlines out of Logan airport in Boston for $85 a piece, round-trip for 3 came out to $508.??. These were the "wanna get away" tickets. I called the hotel directly to get the graduation rate after I booked online. I think I got a pretty good deal but there are probably better ones out there. Keep looking!!
One word of advice about bundling, if you have to change your flight you will likely loose the money you paid for the hotel. i heard a couple moms on here who that happened to. If you watch for specials from Southwest they often have some really good deals. They had a commercial on a couple weeks ago with flights from specific cities to Chicago for only $69.00 Of course you have to research and see if there is a deal like that near you. I remember seeing seeing it had Orlando I believe and I know if had Greenville SC. You can go ahead and book your hotel as soon as you have the PIR date since they don't charge for cancellations. I even booked two until I made my mind up where I wanted to stay lol.
TorisMom- We are also coming from California and we are using Southwest. They do not charge a change fee in case we need to change dates and they do not charge for baggage. You can play around with the times and they were comparable to priceline. You can book the hotels now and most do not need payment in advance. Same with the car. We are staying outside of the area (10 miles away) but got a great deal through Marriott.
I have never made a trip like this before, and I'm coming alone!!! I don't know where to start, are you guys using Priceline or another sight and bundling, or just making reservations, tickets as you plan? Also I am coming from California. EEeeeeeeee!
Cathie
I was there in Jan for my first daughter's PIR. There were only 5 Divisions that day and it was 5 degrees. We drove. With 14-16 Divisions on 3/30, we ARE taking the shuttle this time.
