I didn't get the " I 'm a sailor " call .  My son is in Div 920 and said he would call on the 26th.  We waited all last night and tonight but no call.  I guess unless we hear different we  will still plan on being there Friday.

alismz:......sigh....and sniff.....what a wonderful story!

AMD'sMom;  Hmmmm.....strange that he didn't call yesterday or today...but sometimes it happens.  I have heard of some who never did get the I'm a Sailor call, but their sailors were at PIR.  You may want to try and call the Public Affairs Office tomorrow and see if they have him on the graduation list.  Sometimes you get someone nice there who will help; sometimes not.  But it may be worth a try!  847-688-2405

...so anybody got any tears left for a lil' story? My father-in-law, not much of a church go-er, has many opinions and generally has no trouble sharing all of them...but when it comes to his days as a MARINE, its all hush hush. Last November his six kids read an article that our local paper had wrote in honor of the Vets and learned a wee bit about their fathers' experience via the paper. Our kids were thrilled to read about "grandpa t."

Last night "grandpa t." called my husband to stop by to pick up a small gift for our SAILOR's graduation... he sat and told of the years & places this little book had traveled faithfully packed in his MARINE gear. With tears in my husbands eyes, grandpa t. handed him a small pocket sized black leather bound New Testament bible he had received from a sunday school teacher as a child.

The bible had never been mentioned before... I think he waited a whole generation for one of his flesh & blood to serve their country...and make him the proudest man with no words to describe his pride, just a simple gesture from his heart!

AMD my Sailor said everyone from the division passed that went through BS and you woild have heard if he wasn't  going to be taken the test. Hey maybe he was loading upon snacks because my Sailor cut our call short when he seen them walk by lol!

Just read somewhere that it was 7:30 am..

Wondering if anyone would know the answer to this question... If my sailor isn't flying out until Sunday and I get to spend all day Saturday with him... What time do I get to pick him up on Saturday?
