For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. I know now to bring plenty of tissue and prepare my husband and daughter that will be with me. I don't know why it is so emotional but I tear up at the littlest thing. I am glad that I am not the only one. Can't wait for3/30

I agree about the words Now hear this.... it was awesome, and the Sailors singing anchors away and being able to hear my daughters voice as she sang with the choir. It was all so amazing and the tears just flowed and flowed. I still cry every time i watch that video and pretty much anytime I watch any of the videos on youtube lol. I am such a softy. I hope you don't have to go to jury duty again Diannep. Most people hate it but I always love it. I think it is so interesting lol.

Even though i didn't receive as many letters and calls as i would have liked i made it through with the wonderful support system on this site. And just when i thought i would lose it someone would post something on here to let me know that i wasn't alone in my roller coaster of emotions. Now I'm just waiting for my I am a Sailor call. Can't wait to see my SR and the Young Man he has become. Proud Navy Mom!

The first is "Navy Bootcamp Song". It's pretty funny and the performers have some talent.

The second is, "Bored Sailors". Don't ask me why I knew THAT would yield gold.... But it did.

The third is "Navy Choir Bluegrass". It's from a 1986 boot camp graduation... Basically five years after I attended, but in my era. What I love about it is that is shows how little the Navy has changed. More, it reminded me of nights at sea. You see, every ship has a few who can really play a guitar. On my ship, it was not uncommon to hang out and shoot the sh!t on the weather decks. Occasionally, someone would have a guitar... That's where this southern California surf punk acquired a taste for bluegrass. It's also where I had many side splitting laughs.
