@Omama- Yes, for sure. I'm going to go ahead and put my number up on the Pensacola A school discussion board.. Feel free to do the same!!
@Diannep- Silly me, I meant to put Friday instead of Saturday. I fly out of Midway at 6 PM on Saturday. I didn't think that he would be able to recieve his cell phone via is RDC but that's what he told me yesterday on the phone. I'm definitely going to the airport with him if I can so it's not a problem.
& Thank you for the info on Sarge and transportation service. Maybe I will make a discussion... I am going to PIR alone and I'm not old enough to rent a car!!!
all of us whose sons/ daughters leave for pensacola, will need to inform each other if we hear when they fly out so we can all make travel plans:)
For those needing transportation from the airports to your hotels...consider using SARGE's services. If he can "bunch you up" with other Navy families, you pay very little (he charges by the car), 847-212-0246 Text or call him.
Maybe you can start a discussion group up top for those looking to share a ride....call it RIDES NEEDED TO/FROM AIRPORT???...and all can put the times up there that they arrive...arrange carpools together. Helping each other out!
everonics: I'm confused...you are dropping your sailor off after liberty on Saturday, and not Friday? I've never heard of that. They normally have to return on PIR day either at 8 or 9 pm.
As far as cell phones allowed on RTC, they aren't allowed for departing sailors---not even if left with an RDC. Do you fly back out of Midway at 6 a.m. or 6 p.m.? I'm assuming 6 a.m.if you don't think you can meet up with your sailor. But remember...they are there in the wee hours of the morning...like around 2 or 3 a.m.....so you may still be able to get it to him.
I didn't know I could meet my sailor at the airport when he was up there (such a newbie I was!) and he didn't know either. So I didn't. I just mailed him his cellphone once he was at A School....made sure he had a phone card when he returned after liberty to use until he received the phone. It worked out!
If you for sure can't meet your sailor at the airport, you may find another mom going from your division who will be happy to deliver his phone to him.
My SR said that he can give his RDC his cell phone when I drop him off when liberty is over on Saturday. In case I wouldn't be able to meet up with him on Saturday. I don't know how true that is though. Never heard anyone else say anything like that.
alismz - Oh man...but HA, HA...I remember when I had my C-Section (actually THREE of them...TMI...don't read Captain! LOL) and guess who had to go and BUY that stuff! He is a sweetie though!
My SR leaves for Pensacola after PIR 3/30. Since I still don't have a definite of when she will leave we are not scheduled to fly out until Sunday a.m. from Midway. I hope we get to see her off and give her phone etc. to her.
@JackieD- What time is your flight into Midway? Mine's as 1:00 Thursday and then I fly out Saturday at 6:00. I'm trying to figure out the best (inexpensive lol) way to get to my hotel!
