Oh my...!
Well, that's all the words you kind of KNOW in first grade!
All the discussions about dogs, makes me think of a tragic incident we had with a cat...
One day, back when our SR was a first grader, my wife left through the garage to go on a walk. As she departed she used the remote to close the garage door. As fate would have it, our young cat tried to escape as the garage door closed. Needless to say, our cat didn't make it.
So we buried the cat and soothed the tears of our children.
About a week later, my SR had open house at school and both my wife and I attended. On our SR's desk was her first grade writing journal. A very audible gasp from my wife as she read the journal.
My daughter had written, "I had a cat. I loved my cat. My mom killed my cat."
Folks - About the Discussion Forum. It will only show 20 titles at a time. So if you want to bump something to the top, to get info out but don't really have a reply... here is how.
To "bump" a Discussion to the top...all you have to do is type one charachter in (even just a period!) and hit reply. Then, delete the reply (click the "x" in the top right corner....the Discussion will remain at the top until another Discussion comes along and "bumps" it.
That is awesome pegodun, so happy for you that he called back :-) Keep those phones close by ladies you never know when they may call.
Good morning!!!! When I arrived home from class late last night, I checked my inbox . . .And what did I see? All the exciting news about FTLW's pup!
I had to do some editing to documents to go to a professor who was catching a flight, so, I couldn't join in the celebration of ANSWERED PRAYER!!!!!! I have to confess: I had to check my edits twice (I was a bit teary).
Now that it's morning, let me make a quick analogy: Your SRs are not lost, like the little dog, but they are fully in the hands of folks other than you. There will be periods YOU need to just go on faith. If God watches over our little dogs, he certainly watches over our sons, daughters, spouses and other loved ones. Embrace this journey and the moments of faith that help us grow along the way (and, hey, you have all of us as traveling companions!).
Danny called us last night...of course I left the phone in the car by accident and went to shoprite...so when I came out I had lots of missed calls, but, he called again...he sounds great..he also called Dad and his brother Eugene..He sounds so happy...he said it is easier than he thought it was going to be...he said that he made new friends...great guys...he was allowed to use the phone for 45 minutes and he said he thought he might be able to call us again on Sunday...he wanted to talk to his younger brother but, he was at a basketball game...they are so close so that was sad...but hopefully Sunday..Thank you God!!!
Yes, to add on to Lala's post....processing days when they first arrive can take from a few days up to 2 weeks. Bootcamp training itself starts with week/day 1-1...and they usually PIR during week 7. My son was actually there for 10.5 weeks, but one week of that is when he had been asmoed (setback). Still, that leaves 9.5 weeks for him...longer because of processing days (he was an early arrival so waited longer) and Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. Processing days do not count in the "training day" week/day count.
Codemansmom - It depends on what rate/pay grade he is at.
E-1= SR, Seaman Recruit (Even after BC if they are an E-1 it is Recruit)
E-2= SA, Seaman Apprentice
E-3= SN Seaman
Now, this also depends on his "group" Seaman, Fireman, Airman, (Seaman/Hospitalman - there is supposed to be an HR,HA,HN...but I think they usually use the Seaman Abbreviations)
So:
E-1 = FR, AR
E-2 = FA, AA
E-3 = FN, AN
alismz- I wonder too! Glad you got your nice car back!
Thank you all so much!
