diannep-hahaha! i had to reread your post... wasn't sure at first if you were speaking "spiritual food" or not- haha! ... today the best bodies of faith are the ones that take care of the WHOLE body, ewhich usually starts at the mouth- hah!

Capt'n- grew up non-denominational but alway loved Ash wednesday and the stations of the Cross at our little town St. Anne's Church... usually had really cute boys too... i ended up marrying a charming Catholic boy 25 yrs ago! haha!

FTLW- any news?

diannep - I had to laugh at your "Catholic" experience. Many moons past, when I went to bootcamp, we scoped out all the church options on base and shared notes. Then we all became "Greek Orthodox" for the remainder of training. Why, you might ask? Because they fed us the BEST FOOD. We felt we could worship anywhere, but eating something other than runny scrambled eggs and grits--that was simply HEAVEN!

Good luck on the yardsale Lala, it seems there is strange weather all over the U.S. this year. Sunny summer time weather here yesterday and so far cold and gloomy at 6:55

FTLW- Boy I hope things get better for you. I have horribly unhealthy eyes and allergies and feel for you.I hope you get plenty of rest and start feeling well soon. The missing dog is probably so hard, our dog isn't "just a dog" she is our little rat-rodent baby girl (4 lb poodle) I do hope you find your dog and like the others said, don't give up hope, your pup may find it's own way back home.

Yes, omama:  When my son was up there, I got a couple of calls on Saturdays.  They can come at anytime...hard to plan around them.  Hoping that they call cells if no answer at home.

Omama:  Was this the first PFA that they took?  They take 3 of them and all must pass the last one, no matter what they did on the first 2.  So happy that he passed this one as that is a very good sign!

Great explanation of Hell Week, Captain Fatso.  They get up a bit earlier too for this busy week.  My son never said anything after Hell Week, so I hope that means he "grew up" during that time!

Sonya:  No matter what you hear about the RDCs right now...know this...they are very well trained and know what they are doing.  They are trying to take 88-90 SRs of all ages, backgrounds, life experiences, cultures, abilities, expectations...and get them on the "same page" working as a team.  YIKES!  They do this beautifully....and you will witness that at PIR.  So keep the faith, keep encouraging your SR...no matter what they may call/write home and say...Mine complained when there and I thought he wanted to quit...he finally said, "Mom, do you think I want to quit????  NO WAY!  I am NOT going to quit and I will get through this and become a sailor!"  Those were happy words to my ears...and guess what?  He did it!

So remember ladies, no matter what they may say to you of a discouraging nature, reply with encouragement.  Some want to protect their loved ones from how hard it really is, and may just always say that they love it, all is well.  They don't want you to worry.  Just know that it is hard work, both physically and mentally (and emotionally!) for them...but you will love the good changes you will see once they become sailors!

CaptainFatso:  Too funny about your daughter going for Ash Wed and not being Catholic!  But good for her to have her eyes on God and go" with the flow" to church!  HA!   I was once a bridesmaid in a Catholic wedding...I'm Protestant...and didn't know that if you are not Catholic, you are not to take communion (all can in our church).  So I did...ooops!  Didn't know I did anything wrong until after the ceremony...sigh...

Dogs are THE BEST...God's lessons to us wrapped in cuddly fur!  FTLW:  Don't lose faith...we had one who found her way home a week after being lost 2 miles away (in an area she had never been in before).  Sure hope you find her...and feel better!  Get some rest...

***HUGS, FTLW***

No such thing as "just" a dog. In our household, dogs are family, I have my Baby Bear glued to my side right now. Doing doggy prayers for you and pup, and allergy recovery prayers for YOU! Call your local rescue to get the word out, call the local paper . . . usually "lost" pet posts are free. Finally, try Craigs List--there's a lost pet posting area.

ear PIR group,

I’m sorry I was not on yesterday…I have been reading but been unable to post…had a “day” in the FireTeam household.

I have been having a horrible time with my allergies and so had a skin test in the morning…I only made it half way through…started coughing etc. and feeling funny. So they stopped and gave me a shot of…I don’t remember…and said we’ll finish next month.  Yip-pee.

Anyways…it wiped me out! Then I got a call from my DH and was told that our sons little dog had gone missing. It’s a long story but basically this is a dog with issues that will never go away (we did not have her for the first year of her life)…looked everywhere …family had appointments they had to still get done…life goes on…and I was so wiped and then upset that I finally just crashed. I didn’t have a car to continue the search anyways and history has shown that if we don’t find her in the first hour of being gone…she is not near us anymore. Of course night comes and now I am just plain worried and trying not to “picture” things in my mind.

I know it is “just a dog”...but prayers and good thoughts would sure help.

WB Sonya... yeah it was my daughter who said that 097 RDCs were scary mean. I got to talk with her on the phone yesterday, and she now says she getting used to them. Who knows what we'll learn in a couple more weeks?

Boot camp is a strange place. Yesterday I also learned that my daughter went to a service for Ash Wednesday. Not that I have much of a problem with that, but..... well...... we're not Catholic. I mean, we're non denominational evangelicals living in Southern California's mini Bible Belt.

Hello All - been a few days since I have been on, had a lot of reading to do to get caught up (I left off somewhere around Captain Underpants) I seen some posts about the RDCs in Div 097 being Scary Mean, dear lord, my son is in there!        I was told that one SR stated in his letters that the RDC yells and throws chairs for no reason at all.

torismom- glad to read that you got a call to, I know how you were felling. It is not normal to not get to talk to your kid. I was in a sad state myself. I'm still wait for the first letter from my SR to arrive.

Had to laugh at the OZ clip!."I"ll never get away from it,as I am trap there!!" :))

(sorry can't remember the name of who posted it)
