For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I know we are all looking forward to graduation, and very excited to finally watch our children and or family members become an Official United States, Navy Sailor. Until then, lets all share our experiences with each other. torismom- got my 1st letter (after grandma, she lives closer) and it does help tons! also as kdking stated lots of prayer (our church posted a photo board of our military members to keep in prayer)

love hearing from all you veterans and newbies alike... got to get some motel reservations... any suggestions veteran moms?

His girlfriend received two yesterday and I am blaming the mail system on taking too long to delivery mine. Congratulations on your son being section leader!! My son is in the same ship/division. That is very sweet of him to acknowledge his upbringing. That brought tears to my eyes. After Ryan and I hung up from his 10 second phone call he also sent me a text saying "I love you all". It's the little things.

I received my 1st letter from my SR and it was very encouraging. He said even though it's not easy it's going well. He also told me he's a Section Leader so proud of my SR and he too said the food was ok. So of course i cried while reading it because i could see the young man he is becoming. He also said how much he appreciated his upbringing WOW! I gues we did something right.

Comment by all5roc on February 16, 2012 at 4:55pm: Got first letter today from SR. She is not happy...I know she has alot of adjusting to do. I guess it means I need to be praying more than my usual "all day long" prayers. Anyone else get any encouraging news?

I have to stay strong for them. Does anyone know of any good support groups for kids? My son is 8 and I think it woutelp him alot as this is helping m

Comment by diannep on February 16, 2012 at 1:53pm: I agree with Lala. It does get better once you get that first letter/phone call. Just know that the SRs are working very hard and have little time...some are studying rather than writing letters. Just keep writing yourself and make sure to always send only positive encouraging info. They have enough to deal with there without any stresses in the "outside world!"
