It is very sad to hear about the young recruit passing away. My heart breaks for her family and my thoughts and prayers are with them.
alismz, that is one smart Nana, very well played. Maybe she live closer or her mail man is quicker lol.
As far as driving to the base and getting your car searched it does happen but it is random. You don't know if it will be your car or the 10 cars behind you. To make it easier in case it does happen it is best to leave all your luggage in the hotel so that they have less to look though. It doesn't take long to look through a car that is pretty much empty. They don't search every car.
LilBigMansMom the best thing to do when divisions pick colors is to as part of the name on the Discussions above Example: Ship 11/DIV 101 Navy Blue or what ever color you guys choose, then it is easy for everyone in that division to know what it is :-) I hope that helps.
JackieD..That is just awful. I really feel for her family, how devastating. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. If what you say is true, she arrived on the same day as my son. I am really looking forward to a letter now more than ever! She most likely would have been in this PIR group if she arrived on 1/30.
hi all- our SR had told me before departurind to GL to send SASE self addressed stamped envelopes to speed up the corresponding process... got a call from SR's nana that she got the first letter! happy for her... i said, "hey, i sent four letters before you did!" nana replied, "but did you send money?"... hah! got me there... well, played nana, well played! ((hugs)) to you all... letters are coming!!!!
I just read on FB and saw the article in the Chicago Tribune that a SR that arrived in GL on Jan 30th has passed away from pneumonia. My heart and prayers go out to her family. She may have been i nthis PIR group. Hearing this makes me want to hear from my son even more to know how he's doing :(
mom of three...Thanks for the advice. I will drive!! I was only concerned about the lines to park coupled with the lines to get in. The last thing I want is to have my sailor with us and having to wait for the shuttle. I will want him all to myself!!!!!!
No nuttin yet, not since the 1st call when he arrived.
LilBigMansMom-I was reading how people tell you too "Let Him Go" and other commets. The same happens to me all the time. It bugs me, they don't understand how it is. I find myself not talking about things with some people here at work. So I understand your frustration. Stay strong. Have you gotten a call or letter?
FTWLA - Thank you!
Also I have a question somewhere I read about the active military & retired military not having to be on the list, What about Vets??? I know I saw something about this but I can't locate it again...
Hi Cathie, when my first daughter had her PIR we went by shuttle, big mistake! Seven days after, my other daughter had her PIR we decided to drive our own car. It was fast and easy. The problem I found with the shuttle is that so many people are trying to use it. Therefore we found ourselves waiting for the shuttle to come back. It took awhile. You'll want to try and get there early to get a good seat. We're planning on driving to our sons's PIR on the 30th. Hope this helps.
