Ok, so I'm going to apologize now for my stupid questions.  But just trying to get the hang of this sailor mom thing.

1.  My dad wants to know if there is a dress code for PIR/Graduation?  What should I wear?

2.  Did I read somewhere that we are able to see our recruits the night before PIR/Graduation?  If so, is there a different list I need to be on in order to attend?

Thank you so much for any helpful advice.

There is no actual dress code. Suggestions have been "business casual". When I see that though I immediately see beige, tweedy, shirt stuff...bleh.

Your Sailors will be in their Dress blues...the Cracker Jacks. So dress accordingly to that and what your Family is comfortable with and what your Sailor would be pleased with. They are just as proud to be seen with you as you are them.

There is a lot of walking so if you like heels you could wear flats and switch them out. This is a good idea for bad weather as well. Flats or low heels are a good idea. The seating at PIR is nice bench/stadium type seating indoors.

No there is not an event for the Sailors and Families the night before PIR (there used to be many years ago). So the first time you will see your Sailor is on PIR day.

The EVENT that you may have been reading about is probably the Meet and Greet put on by Sarge. This is for families of those in Boot Camp to meet each other.

It takes place the night before PIR at the Sundance Saloon (despite that it is a Saloon it is in it's own room and kid friendly.)

Here is the link here on N4M's so that you may RSVP. TSVP's are just so Sarge can get a kind of head count...they count on extras that may not have found out about it until arrived in GL.

Oh, and there are no stupid questions! :-D Both of yours are very legitimate!

Keep asking!
