OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Brittany, yes, I'm fortunate in that he doesn't have a girl and his Dad and I are together so all of his call time has been mine <3

I'm a Sailor calls this afternoon from 809/143/144!  Congrats to all of the new sailors!

NinaK:  Don't panic!  Here is the link for the email contact form for RTC.  It sometimes is easier to contact them by email rather than calling (you can try both).  847 688 2405

http://www.netc.navy.mil/nstc/cx/contactXC.asp?1-21r

Tell them the situation, give them your original PIR group date, ship/div number and password you were given for that group, and they should send you back the current password for this group.

Even if you do not get the password, no issues.  You can take the shuttles from the hotels (Sarge's or local town service.....you sign up for that one at your hotel, or call Sarge for his 847 212 0246)  Or...you can drive and park down at the train station (paid parking, I believe, but cheap) which is right past RTC....about 1/2 mile walk back to RTC front gate, sidewalks.  So -- we'll make sure you get there.

Nina K,  Call the public affairs office and tell them your son's PIR date was moved and why, and you are needing the new password. They will ask you some information about your Sailor,  and have the original form letter with you when you call. They should be able to tell you what you need.

If they can't (things can change daily) remember you can still attend PIR, the pass is for parking your car on base. You can still drive to base, but you will need to park across the street at the train station, and walk across the RTC.
