Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 139 and 140
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

I've received 3 calls, but 1 was the "I'm here" call, and 2 were I need more information calls, and I was able to sneak in how are yous and little bits of general conversations. What i haven't received yet is his box. But, he gave me his phone before he left, and he wore a junky sweatshirt and jeans, so I wonder if he just opted to not send it back.

My son is in Div 139 too! I got the box and form letter. I got a call Saturday, but missed it. Needless to say I was upset that I missed the call. My son also called today to get some information. I managed to tell him that letters were on the way and he told me that all of them had just written their letters home. So hang in there moms we should be getting our letters soon.

Our SR are very proud of us for being involved and supporting each other. It is no wonder the Div is doing so well. They real have a great deal of support. I just thought I would point out the obvious! Sincerely when we support each other, our SR feel the positive energy we creat. They love us and want us to have a positive experience while we ride along with them on this challenging journey. We are all "on the same ship"!
In a few days, it will be one month since our SR left. That is amazing! How is everyone feeling? I feel like I am adjusting. My heart is not racing as such. Saturdays are the hardiest because it was the day we would hang out. Thinking back on how I felt three weeks ago, today is a piece of cake in comparison....still miss him, but I am functioning.

Lita - I love how you say "we are all on the same ship!"
As others have said, my son had already been away a year at college, but it did not prepare me for the tears that would hit me a couple of hours after he left for MEPS. It felt like my job as mother closed some type of chapter as I turned my son over to the Navy and let him go out to to live in the world. As we know "a ship is safe in the harbor, but that is not what ships are built for." The same goes for our children.
I finally reached peace when I was able to speak with him informally for 40 minutes at the 3 week mark last Saturday. It put any fears to rest that he was being tortured in boot camp. Since then I also seem to sense a greater calmness among the mothers on this forum.

We haven't received a hand written letter, yet. But alas, he has a girlfriend, who I'm sure is enjoying his letters. :)

Here's hoping you all hear from your recruits soon. Got a letter last night (posted on the PIR 4/11 page). Heading to GL on Apr 10 and plan to attend Sarge's meet and greet. Looking forward to meeting some of you! We are all in this together...
