OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

shannon:  141/142 will go last.  I will message you.

Here is the BattleStations discussion group link for those who have not seen it.  Since some of your SRs are starting this process later this week (finishing during PIR week), it is time to get familiar with it!

http://navyformoms.com/group/pir04112014/forum/topics/battlestation...

I have dates for some of the divisions.  Need 922's date if anyone has it.  I think I have an idea, but want to confirm.  Please friend request/private message it to me.  Thanks!

Anyone in div 142 hear when bs is? I know u cant post it on here pls inbox it to me. It seems most of the other divs know when there ns date but since we are on week 4 with no phone calls our srs havent had the chance to tell us. If no one knows and its not in the letter I usually get on wed. Is it politically correct to call the recruiter and ask? One more question, if/when I find out when bs is when do u typically get the call? I am worried that I will be at work & while im in the building I have no cell service. Luckily my job is flexible and once I make my rounds to all my mailboxes I can sit in my car and work. But I hate to do it all the time dont want to abuse it...

Stacy I will be donating an Ohio basket and making a monetary donation as well. Also if my memory serves me we are wearing navy blue scarves for 14/136, is this correct? And lastly I want to thank each of you for all the support offered on this journey. I do not write much but have become dependent on checking and gathering all of the great information. As tough as this has been it was better knowing there is an amazing group of women that get it. For that thank you all a million times.
