Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Wow, I just checked out the posting for the SR who just left for GL and I want to cry. These poor folks are dealing with that big broken heart feeling we all experienced when our SR made robot I Am Here call. It was not long ago we were in their shoes.

YAY for phone calls and lots of info this time!  Looking forward to the resuming mail this week.  My SR was being treated for bronchitis this week.  :(   He didn't miss any testing/inspections, passed everything, and is back on full duty, but did miss pics.  Anyone know if he'll get a chance for retakes?  I hope so!!

Thanks Lita! Its funny to think how upset one can be over a missed call. It's a Navy thing...

Kimba- I am so sorry you missed your call! Don't beat yourself up. The silver lining is you have his voice message to hear as often as you want. Big hug,

I travel a lot for my job and my younger son had checked the mail and never told me there was a letter from our SR - dated march 6 - He said they had another SR 'ASMO' into there group. He said they got to go to classification bridge and select their choice of jobs. Said he has bonding with another nuke SR from Virginia. Thought you all would enjoy the update even if it is 3 weeks old!

I am late to the party! SR called yesterday! Doing well! He said they were down to 71 SR in the Div. Also mentioned the delayed mail situation. The Div had to do a bunch extra push ups on Friday cuz someone messed up. He had a smile in his voice but said he can not wait to get out of Great Mistakes! The telephone booths they call from are near a Taco Bell. He does like Taco Bell but now the smell of fast food was awesome! Another interesting observation he mentioned was he is tracking all the little things in life he took for granted but does not anymore.
This week they will be doing fire training...learning how to handle a fire on a ship. That is very exciting for my SR.

He was also excited about be fitted for his dress uniform. They had their pictures taken last week and they can start ordering pictures now. Their div. goof off picture should be a great picture. It is the one picture he wants the most. FYI they need to buy package A or B to order the goof off photo.
Looking forward to meeting everyone at Sarge's meeting and greet. Got my California basket started! Are we wearing a pride ribbon and if so do we have a div color?

Thanks Diannep, I did talk to his Dad today and he filled me in. Now I know what the other Mom's are feeling when they miss calls from their SR's, it breaks your heart. Thanks for the kind words...
