Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning Everyone!

@VictorsMama - my son is your SR's group also.  My understanding is that they have gotten busier with training, FireArms, FireFighting and Hell Week. I suspect that is the reason that it has been quieter for us Mom.   Hopefully you hear from him soon :)

I was reading comments on the bootcamp group and I could not help but smile when I remembered my first few days on here. The anxiety and anticipation of the box and form letter. It is amazing that in 3 weeks from tomorrow I will be flying to Chicago to see my boy graduate. We are on he downward slope, ladies! I am thankful for all of you women who made this experience a little easier!

CatMomma , I didn't feel any either. But we seem to be trembling.

@VictorsMama PFA = physical fitness assessment. Here is a link for "Navy Speak" http://www.navyformoms.com/custom/media/pdf/NavySpeak.pdf it's pretty helpful with the lingo. I've not heard from my boy in. Couple weeks either, but the mantra is definitely "no news is good news". I've got some mighty helpful moms here that share the same division as my son, and we all kind of band together to keep up with our division. For instance, my son had watch when the others got to make calls. So he told his buddy to tell his mom to tell me he had watch and wouldn't be able to call. So even though I couldn't talk to him, I knew he was ok. Keep the faith. We are all here to keep the faith with you!

Some questions were cleared up after reading through previous post...still don't understand why no call/letter but although I do not know what PFA stands for I understand PFA's affect him graduating & I should get a call from him to be informed if we should attend.

VictorsMama : I feel your frustration, i too have not hard from my son in weeks. He has been writing his girlfriend which is the only way i know what is going on with him. When i see him at graduation I'm going to smack him then hug him! he's causing me so much stress….so i know! I'm sure your son is doing ok , trust me..they'd make him contact you if he weren't …i just had long talk with my sons recruiter yesterday. Perhaps you speak to your sons…He can call to check to see how he's doing I believe. We are having an issue with my sons rate so my sons recruiter has been contacting people for me. Contact him if you are really concerned.. But I'm sure he's fine. Or he'd let you know.

VictorsMama:  Keep the faith and try to go on no news is good news!  Hoping you hear something from him soon.

Navy gf- my son will be in GL and will have liberty the whole weekend, the check into the new barracks at GL after graduation and this could take up to 4-5 hours, so you will see him after, then he is to return that night. 8-9pm  and then he will have weekend liberty.not sure of the hours I'm assuming the evening are the same but morning hours i don't know

PIR for my son is 4/11/2014. He is assigned to ship 14 division 136. I/we have not heard from him in weeks and really don't know what to think. I feel I am planning the trip (on a shoestring budget) for my 16 month old, his girlfriend & myself from california to gl perhaps for nothing. Any advice would really be appreciated. TY
