Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just got a call from my SR too. He is doing great missing his little girl some but she was here when he called and her 1year old "hi daddy" brought him to tears. Cant wait to place her in his arms where she belongs.

Wahoo, I just got a call from my SR! He sounded real good. He has been there since 2/12 so it was the first time I had heard from him since the I got here phone call.

Dana.momof2sailors, There is no set time for phone calls, but the calls you can expect are the "I am here", "I am still alive", which comes at about training week 3-4, and the "I am a SAILOR" call after BS. Any calls in addition to those would be a "gift". :)

I have a question? My son shipped out later than most on pir 4/11 still no contact but see alot of moms getting letters and even some pcs. How long after your kids left did it take to get them. My son left on the 18th this is his 2nd sat being gone. Just wanting to know if I should get my hopes up...

okay I've been through this before with my other son, so you would think I would remember but I don't know. it was a blur has anyone started getting letters and isn't the first phone calls supposed to be the second Saturday anyone has any info for us I'd appreciate it I'm sure we all would!! :-)

Christopher's mom, yes, he said he is an Educational Petty Officer. I am sure he will do a great job in that role.
