OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I just made my reservations at the Navy Lodge $66/nt.  Can't wait! I really hope the next 49 days fly by.

We think that these will be the divisions in this group:

PIR 04/12/2013   TG 22  Div 143-150, 809, 922

*TG=Training Group

We will wait for official confirmation next week from RTC.

mom3mpa:  Here are the hotels we get the most positive feedback on...not saying there are not others there that are good, but these are the ones that we consistently hear good about:

Navy Lodge (around $65/night), Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn

*We stayed at Residence and it was great.  Pet friendly too!  I believe that Navy Lodge is pet friendly also.  Just in case anyone is driving up with pets!

Be sure to call to make reservations and ask for the Navy Graduation rate.  Navy Lodge must be booked in your SR's name....it is about a mile from RTC.  Springhill, Courtyard, and Residence are about 4-5 miles from RTC and have the PIR shuttle service.....Navy Lodge does not, but you can either drive or use Sarge's PIR shuttle service that morning. He has a transportation service from/to the airports as well, in addition to around GL.

Sarge also hosts a MeetandGreet the night before PIR in the area of the Springhill, Residence and Courtyard.  There are 2 other MeetandGreets that same night....Ramada and Flanigans.  All have food for you.  All 3 welcome all family members, including children.

Winski:  Both sjtina and Cor are N4Moms veterans on this group.  So hoping that they will see your post and respond.  But if you want to message them, just go to the MEMBERS photo box (above and to the right).  sjtina's is the 3rd row down, in the middle, Cor's is the 5th row down, first one (pink!).  Just click on their photo icon and go to their pages.  You can message them from there.

Lemonelephant or diannep--am I allowed to put any pictures of my son on my own facebook page (not the navy moms facebook page) or is that a bad idea?  I took pics at his swearing in ceremony and some friends want to see them.  My setting is visible to just my friends.  He is swcc and I don't want to do anything that will cause him trouble.
