OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I posted this on the ship 12 forum, thought I better post here too..

Hi Ho Hi Ho its off to Great Lakes we go...

Received an email from Sarge saying he will be there at 4:30 to set up and it was fine if others wanted to arrive that early as well. The count for Triton is now at 45. (18 for div 145 & 27 for div 146).

There will be a table near the front door for you to fill out a name tag. My suggestion is for you to legibly write:

  1. Your Name
  2. Div. # & Sailor’s name
  3. Where you’re from
  4. Navy for Moms name (if applicable)

OR something along those lines (suggestions welcomed) & if you saw my handwriting you would know why I say legibly :) Once inside, look for a poster that says USS TRITON to find our tables.

Sarge also asked me to please remind everyone that they rely solely on contributions from the families who attend the meet and greets to fund future ones. There will be a donation box at the front of the buffet table and any donations are greatly appreciated.

I am so excited to meet everyone! Travel safe! ~J

Yikes, I have to wait for my husband's phone call today.  Not to mention my parents finally won a house in the terrible bidding wars down here, so the past three days I've been having to do so much paperwork and making so many phone calls.

I was supposed to be cleaning and packing...uuuugh.  Now I have to cram it all into a day and a half :(

Yes, diannep I so have a crystal clear vision of their underwear...(LOL)

Comment by diannep on April 9, 2013 at 10:34am

If someone does bring an extra carryon for their sailor (need to make sure that the airlines will allow this too), be sure it is solid black, no insignias.

Comment by diannep on April 9, 2013 at 10:30am

Ry-Mom:  I think the "underwear" issue was covered below...HA!  Yes, you can meet them at the airport with their personal items and it would help if they can fit into the their Navy-issued backpacks.  They will have a seabag, garment bag (uniforms), and a backpack to keep track of, so extra carryons will be harder.

Haha ohwhere I think I saw rain AND snow! Tennessee has finally hit Spring and we are having beautiful weather! Now I have to go back to winter just to see my son! Oh well, I guess he's worth it.  LOL

I know your son will do great!  But waiting for that call is torture!  I have my fingers crossed and good luck wishes coming your way!

Comment by KansasNavyMom on April 9, 2013 at 9:51am

Yep, today's our day - at least we hope so! I'm way more nervous than I thought I'd be. Keep your fingers crossed!
