OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yes, it is.  We have a wedding date!  Sept. 28!

Hope everything is going well for everyone and their sailors. Hard to believe how far we have already come!

Thanks, Momof3.  That means a lot.  The Navy has been a wonderful turn in his life.  He really needed it, and for so many reasons.

Well bless him and your hubby! We need more like them that's for sure!

Winski, I don't know whether or not he has aspirations to become a chaplain.  We're taking one step at a time!

Momof3, from what I know (not necessarily all accurate), chaplains DO represent certain religious groups, but all services are ecumenical.  There are Catholic services and Protestant services.  Probably others too, nowadays.  (This info is from my husband, who was an Air Force RP 30 years ago.  Pretty cool that his stepson unwittingly chose the same job!)

Congrats Abucking! Maybe you can answer a question for me? I've noticed lately all the comments on Facebook (not that I believe everything I see there, lol) that say you can't share your religion in the military now or you could get in trouble, yet we have actual assignments as chaplains and assistants. So are those stories just a bunch of bunk? Just curious. Hopefully they are!
Comment by Winski on May 25, 2013 at 8:38am
Abucking I'm so happy for you! While he's an assistant does he get to work on becoming a chaplain? I heard chaplains have to have college and seminary. Is that correct?
Comment by Abucking on May 23, 2013 at 11:05pm

Chaplain's assistant. Got his orders today...Charleston! Only 4 hours from home! We are all very excited. He's been dating his gf for nearly 6 years and they are going to be able to tie the knot while he's there, I feel sure! (She's just waiting on a ring...he's trying to tie up loose ends, then the knot!)

Comment by Winski on May 21, 2013 at 11:28am
That sounds like a chaplain job?
Comment by Abucking on May 21, 2013 at 10:15am

Religious Programming specialist.  He doesn't have orders yet.  Soon, we hope!
