OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am arriving at Midway at 6:15PM.  Already rented a car if anyone needs a ride to Waukegan area,  Can fit 2.  (Thurs evening)

Old SARGE’s  TAXI for Thursday April 11th @ 1 pm Midway Airport.

Hey guys,

I know I posted this before but didn’t get any bites so I figured since we are getting closer to our PIR date I would try again. Is anyone else planning on flying in to the Midway Airport Thursday April 11th around 1 pm and would like to split the cost of a taxi ride using Old Sarge? It cost $90 one-way so if we split it that’s about $48 each. I emailed him to ask if he has anyone signed up for that time and if they would want to rideshare but he didn’t really respond to my question,  so I’m waiting back for clarification. Just putting it out there if anyone plans on flying into Midway and want to save on the taxi ride. Thanks, everyone. Keep up all the good spirits we are almost there! HOOYAH!

I'm so excited about PIR!  Will I have some place to go with my toddler's stroller?  I know I won't be able to hold her the entire time.

Although the Navy Lodge is close by, you will have to drive to PIR, major roads and intersections and no sidwalks.

Does anyone know how far it is from the Navy Lodge to the PIR hall?  Is it a short enough distance just to walk, or must you drive from there?  Thanks!

ReidsMomKathy, it is a good idea to take those things but you will have to meet him at the airport in order to be able to give them to him. He can't take any of it back to RTC base with him other than the bank card. They are allowed to have those.

mom3rn... we drove and it worked out great for us. If I went again I would do the same thing. We left our hotel at 6:30 we were parked, checked in and in the PIR hall within an hour and that was with 14 divisions graduating.

mom3rnpa, We drove to PIR as we had my 80 year old mother with us. We had no problem driving there, although our PIR was very small 5 divisions, and we got there early.

Also, if anyone attending PIR has a handicap parking card bring it with you, you can use it for parking at PIR. If they have license plates instead of a parking card, go get a card, it will make things easier.

Another question for a veteran mom.  Should we take things to PIR that our son might need/want at A School?  He is going to South Carolina, if that matters.  I'm thinking about phone, computer, iPad, backpack, toiletries, checkbook, bank cards, other personal items.  We're driving so space isn't an issue and this would save shipping costs and time if it makes sense to bring them.

thanks so much. that helps immensely - esp with the sailors stationed along the paths!
