~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Congrats! To everyone who got a letter or call. I can’t wait for mine, probably won’t be until the end of the week. And WOW a 30 minute call, I would be in heaven if I got one of those. My husband got 10 minutes to talk and my stupid cell phone dropped the call twice so it was more like 7 minutes. Crazy enough I’m even thinking of getting another phone, that’s how precious I hold my time with him. Yeah, 36 more days, it will feel like time is really moving once we get past the 30 day mark. God, I can only imagine having to get your wisdom teeth pulled out in that stressful situation. Any recruit who went through that should get an extra badge or something ;-) I was in so much pain when I got my pulled and super out of it for like 2 days. Fishing Quilter you should totally get your daughter a massage or something after PIR for handling that situation so well. One of the other moms on a recent PIR date talked about getting her son a massage to relax and enjoy his liberty time.
Welcome mOmof4bOys: Be sure to join your discussion group above, in addition to staying here on this main page!
Fishing Quilter: Glad that they feel she is ok! Sounded awful!
Cammy: Hope you get an explanation soon!
Only 36 more days to PIR ... yay! Got a call this afternoon from my SR daughter; she's had her wisdom teeth out and they were concerned because they were embedded in her mandibles so it was a hairy extraction. She's now got a hole between her mandible and her sinus cavity (at least that's what she was told), so they were concerned about infection, but went back for a re-check today and all appears well. She sounds good. Says the letters from home help to make BC a bearable experience. Can't wait to hear from her again.
That's great to hear Melberta! I'm waiting anxiously for mine. My husband was on watch when they got their calls, and left me a very strange and confusing message through another SR. Hopefully I get his letter tomorrow and it explains whatever is going on with him so I can finally relax. Didn't get it today unfortunately, but had a feeling the letter will come Thursday or Friday.
Just got off the phone with my SR. It was another wonderful 30 minute call but it goes by too quick
That is great melberta! Enjoy it!
Got my first letter from my daughter!!! YIPEE!!!
Hello Winski and Lala, we are in SC, about an hour from Brevard. It most definitely is a lovely area, and if you like hiking, check out Graveyard Fields. It's right off the Blue Ridge Parkway near the intersection with US 276. Also, just below Brevard is the DuPont Forest. Wonderful waterfalls, but lots of other hikers, esp in summer.
Hope all who are getting snow, are warm and snug indoors today.
