Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son called yesterday and they pulled all his wisdom teeth on Tuesday.  I dont know how many they do or if they do the whole division at the same time.  He is still a little sore

ohwhere:  Same message for you below.  Glad you received a phone call...they are hit or miss...so just be ready at any time and know that it could be a pretty short one...or a longer one...just depends.

Just remember that this is good practice for when they are deployed and communication is very sketchy.  This site should be a help to you during those times as many will be going through the same thing!

So sorry, Mrshelvey....sigh....so hoping that the letter is being written right now and a "chance" phone call may come next week!  Hang in there....it gets better....

My husband is on ship 13 div 147 and no phone call yet :/ no letter either :/ I'm having a really hard day :(

I’m feeling down today. Getting a call yesterday was wonderful but now I have no idea how long until I hear from my husband again. It could be the rest of training if his division doesn’t earn any extra calls. I wish I had a time to look forward to like I did with the 3 week call. Something tangible that I can say okay just one more week until I hear from him. I really hope letters start rolling in this week. I don’t have any motivation right now. I got the DEERS letter and will be turning in the paperwork this week. The Met life dental paper is confusing I’m going to have to call to get some clarification with that. Let me know when you guys start getting letters for Ship 11 DIV 150. I’m having an emotional day...
