N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Still no "official letter"!!! And the letters I mailed this morning are still in the mailbox.  I'm beginning to think the problem is on my end here with the post office.  Big pouty lip :0(

vujmac, I have heard it is taking a while to get approved for this website. how long did it take you to get approved?

Black or Silver watches, no gold (for officers).  Many give these as graduation gifts!

Comment by vujmac on February 28, 2013 at 10:07am

thanks diannep for the quick reply. another one, are they allowed to wear wristwatches in A school, and if so, what kind. thanks again

Comment by diannep on February 28, 2013 at 9:53am

Yep, NO CARE PACKAGES!  Anything bigger than a regular letter will be opened in front of the RDCs.  Believe me...they want NO extra attention from their bosses!  Sooo...take the care packages up to PIR and let them enjoy your goodies back at the hotel!  If staying for A School in GL, they can actually take them over there once they have moved onto that base (right after PIR) and have had Liberty with you.

Good Morning!

Yes, vulmac:  He should be able to take that back with him once he has had Liberty with you (he will have moved over to GL A School base by then).  Can have his phone too and a few civilian clothes.  Can't wear those yet, but will have them when he can.  Might want to ask him exactly what he wants you to bring up for him.  You can always take it back home if he isn't allowed to have something (he will know by Liberty with you).

Good Morning!

Got my first letter from my SR today!  Happy Dance!  She cracked me up ... she said she "... had the chance to be RPOC (1st in charge after our Petty Officers), but I turned it down to be head of the HEAD PO (#1 in charge of bathrooms)  :)  thought you would approve & have a little giggle for me."  My first thought was, "OMG!  My baby joined the US Navy to scrub toilets!  lol"  Well, I did tell whatever she does to do it to the very best of her ability.  And I did teach my children how to scrub a toilet successfully, so, GO, GIRL, GO!

She also told me not to send her any care packages/cookies!  I'm a baker, and she knows I would want to do that so she could share with everyone, but I also know better (thank you N4M website)!  I think I'll have to make cookies to take to PIR ... maybe some great cutouts of little white navy hats, or anchors or something ... we'll have to see!  I can't believe there's ONLY 43 days left!  lol

Hope you all had a great day today, too!
