Hello Navy families.  My sailor is on Ship 6 / Div 154.  We received our second phone call from our son on Saturday, 3/26.  His previous call also came on a Saturday (3/12) around the same time ~ 12:30 ish (PST).  First call went to voice mail, which was great since I was able to replay his message multiple times just to hear his voice!  Getting easier now that I know that the calls are coming from a 847 area code.  So glad to hear that he's doing well.  He knew BC would challenge him physically, but he admits that he's learning a lot about himself, gaining self esteem and helping him to be independent as well as work well as a team.  He's enjoying the food too!  LOL.  Well I guess so; with the mandatory 3 meals a day, since his arrival mid Feb; he's gained about 27 pounds. He is actually enjoying have a routine and structure.  These are two things our son really needed. We couldn't be more proud of, and happier for, him.  Question:  Our sailor has asked us to bring his phone and tablet with us to PIR; however, the materials we received in the mail, specifically mentioned NOT to bring these items.  Does anyone have any insight on this?

Got it!  Thanks Dani1324!

I had the same questions....I got my answers here....thank you! Ship 11 Div 156

My son is on this same ship/division. I was hoping for a phone call last weekend but didn't see one. Can't wait to se him on the 15th.

I have friends who's son graduated from RTC a few weeks ago, he said book your flights out of midway on Southwest for Saturday night because they bring all the Sailors there at 5 in the morning Sat all at the same time no matter what time their flight leaves for A school. That is when they can get their phone from you. I plan to bring my daughter's iPhone, charger, and mini iPad to her at the airport, otherwise you are mailing it...scary.

Sailors leaving Great Lakes for A school elsewhere fly our of both Chicago airports. You won't know which until PIR.
