Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Phew...I'm glad someone else was calling for the same reason.  I thought something was wrong...especially since I e-mailed this info to a navy.mil e-mail address that first week.

Just got a call from my son....he couldn't talk, just needed some phone numbers and addresses.  Actually, the same ones that he called for in week #1?  He said he wouldn't be able to talk this weekend either, most likely.  Now my mom senses are tingling....

Anita, Driving is one of those things they are not allowed to do PIR weekend.

Rules on liberty after PIR

Comment by Leach73 on April 3, 2014 at 4:05pm

You were not dreaming Anita. I am pretty sure they are not allowed to drive.

Comment by Anita(Zach's mom) on April 3, 2014 at 3:54pm
My son mentioned looking forward to driving while we are up for his PIR weekend. I thought I had read somewhere that he is not allowed to drive but now I can't find where I read this. Did I really read that or was I dreaming?!?

Greetings to all my Nayy Sisters! I received a letter from my SR and she sent me a little sketch of where she will be positioned in the group on graduation day. She is a section leader and she says she is so excited about how sharp they are all going to look the day of PIR. They are working their butts off in these next days leading up to battlestations and she put a date of April 11 for capping ceremony and phone call (provided they pass). Just wanted to share that will all of you...so now that I have elevated the ANTICIPATION level way up...lets continue to pray, pray, pray for their daily strength, protection from harm and sickness, and confidence to go on. They've all come so far but still need that little push. Gosh I remember the countdown clock when it was in the 40s, 30s, 20s and now it's down to 15 days!!! Halleluyah!

Oh and she shared a verse with me that she heard in Chapel service on Sunday and said said it was going to be her verse for the rest of her time there, Psalm 27:13-14. I'll be praying it over her too and for all the SRs. God is good!

I also received the big envelope that she sent back home with her extra letters...I had put $5 worth of postage on the envelope and had to pay 80 cents when the mailman delivered it.

one more thing, she did tell me that she was able to go to the NEX to buy some things but was only allowed to buy mascara and eyeliner for picture day :(
