Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I will be praying he is well soon and catches up quickly. When my son called last weekend and left a msg I thought he sounded sick. I'm hoping for a letter today. :)

Good Morning Ladies! I received a phone call from my son late yesterday afternoon. I was not expecting that! He sounded really good. He said that he is the Religious Petty Officer in his division which made me chuckle afterward, because when I talked to him the first Saturday he called, he lamented what little free time he had and didn't know if he'd be able to attend church since he just had 'too much to do'. I told him to do what he thought was best, but my experience has been that when I honor God with my time, He somehow mutliplies the time that I do have and my time seems to be more productive that I am capable of. Anyway, I guess he's going to church after all! :) He got his wisdom teeth out last week and said he was SIQ for two days so wrote a few letters then. (I still haven't rec'd the one he sent me). Anyway, he said after he passed his running test so he moved up to an E-2 and he said they announced it over the intercom system. He said they got their dress whites and dress blues day before yesterday. He said they are old fashioned but very cool and intricate. Lots of buttons and ties. He said his division is still talking too much which makes for some grumpy RTC's, but otherwise they are all three 'very cool guys'. I'm taking up too much space, Girls!! I pray that each of you gets a letter or call from your SR this week! It made my week, for sure.
