Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My daughter did list 4, with the last slot as either her sister or brother. She listed 5 but only 4 can go. I am so sorry, for this process is so painful for a mother as it is. Maybe an oversight on his part - hope you can go!!

Thanks, Demetris. No problem....I know that you are passing on info as you know it.
Sadly, some of the RDCs sometimes do not "get the memo" from Public Affairs. Lately, some are still telling their SRs that they are "grad n go", a term that the PAO no longer uses since no sailors fly out on PIR Day, but most will fly out the next day---the PAO asked that we stop referring to them as grad n go. Some even complained to the PAO and they said they needed to get all of the RDCs informed of the new policies, but apparently that has not been the case. I just don't want any of the SRs to get in trouble. Could a SR put a shipmate's extra guest name on his/her list and maybe get away with it? Possibly....but since RTC asked that it not be done, we certainly advise against it.
Ivall: Hopefully, this PIR group will be posted with its divisions soon....but the 04/11 group needs to be posted first. Occasionally they may post 2 PIR groups at the same time. Here is the page it will be on (scroll to bottom):

momma4...your welcome. but for the record...this is my 3rd kid to go thru bootcamp in the last 4 years and i do talk to rdcs that are actually working there now. but you should listen to diannep because i would hate to misinform you...

One more note.....lately, some of the form letters have been incorrect. A recent PIR date was incorrect...and before that, sometimes the number of guests listed on the form letter as allowed has been incorrect. Everyone please wait until RTC posts the divisions for this PIR group....that will be the correct number. ellen is very good about determining the divisions on in a group before then, but even she will tell you to please wait for official word from RTC.
