OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

AndrewB/Mom, could you please edit your post to not include a last name? (I'm assuming that is a last name).  If you would like to send the name to the other ladies on here, you may certainly do so in a private message.  Unfortunately, under the suggested things that we should not share on here, are the SR's last names.  Thanks!  You can just delete the post and add it again without the last name.  :)

Andrew B mom,  I hope they know each other too.  I also hope the mail gets to them quickly and the storm did not delay it.  Looking forward to meeting all the families from div 156.    So far I believe I have everyone from ship11 div 156 as a friend.  But I am praying for all the PIR  SR's  on  4/19/2013 and their moms and dads.  I believe our dads  have a tough time too.  So excited for our sons and daughters and proud.

Sarges sounds great!  We fly in Thursday landing at 8am. Funny, I have a list going in my office of the boys names and referencing where y'all are from and A school location best as I can figure out.  I can inbox if anyone is of interest. Sorry, I'm a bit OCD lol

I put my SR's name and division number. I did that for 2 reasons...1. my last name is a wee bit long for the ribbon and 2. I will have another set of PIR ribbons to order once my SR's twin heads to BC. I don't want to get them mixed up :)

Comment by mynavygirl2 on March 6, 2013 at 1:14pm

thanks Lala. i will send a friend request as soon as i figure out where it is and how to send it!!hahaha..
