N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Not to burst your bubbles, but those pictures are from the TSC side and are the A School students, not your recruits.

I'm Sorry

Yeah! Got my letter yesterday and got a notice my box is at the FedEx place. If i had come straight home from work, I would have met the FedEx delivery guy, but I went and worked out so I missed him. I feel so much better now that I have his letter. I've sent 4 letters to him already. I sure miss talking to him. He hasn't lived at home for 6 years, but we did talk and would skype, and we'd go see him quite a bit. (He lived only 5 hours away). I love the weather widget. I down loaded an app on my phone called the countdown...so I have the PIR date right on my phone (as a tile, i've got the windows phone) and it's counting down! :) My son is a nuke. I know Debi's son is a nuke. Any one else?

Hey kmc1973! My son was supposed to leave on 2/19 but it was his bday so they pushed it back 2 days. When I got home from work, I had missed my box. I'm so bummed. And no form letter. :(

This is my second child (first was a boy and he PIR'd back in Sept 2011) to do the Navy thing. She left 2/20. Have not gotten my letter (did get the box) but the weather here in Kansas has been crazy so I am not real upset yet. Hoping to see it by Friday.

Comment by D'sMomMary on February 26, 2013 at 6:41pm

whew, did you see that weather widget? Crazy snow! My son PIR'd in mid-January. Now his fiancee is at GL- there was no snow at all when my son was there. Anyways, my future DIL is 900 div., I'm just going to be a fly on the wall here but look forward to news from anyone else with a SR in her div. (like, I haven't heard from her mom yet what the exact div # is for their pir group. She doesn't use the internet much so I have to wait for a *gasp* letter!)

Hi ladies! My son's recruiter told me the day after he left that his PIR would be 4/19. My son left on 2/21. I'm assuming you all have gotten your form letters to know their ships and div?
