OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning! Thanks again for all your prays! I am so excitied for all my friends to get that " special call " today! They earned it and you all deserve it!! I am hoping and praying that I get the call tomorrow that he made the run and I will fly out because the rest will work it self  out! If he does not pass- I will not fly out because he will not be on the list for graduation. Its all in Gods hands but I really wish I can make it right for all the SR's that are struggling this week because its just not fair that they worked so hard to get to this point!! I hope tomorrow will be better for them!!

All my thoughts and prayers going out to those SRs who are in limbo.  Congrats to DIV 923 on the Captain's Cup!!

40inthebox:  That would be a long time to stay in the car since you will need to arrive an hour before or earlier, and the ceremony itself is 90 minutes long.  The car would have to be off base...they won't allow people to wait in the car on the base if not on the list.  If they are not on the list, they won't let them in.  So it is best for extras to wait at the hotels for their families

I'm still praying for the SR's who will get another chance to run.

I was not originally going, I was staying home with my daughter and our dogs. I have a huge fear of flying so I was opted out so to speak. My husband said he still is planning on going and is now talking to his parents if they are still going.  I so wish I could be anxious for that phone call tomorrow....But am so happy for all of you expecting one..... Our boys will make it one way or another I just wish the stress of it was over.... Its hard not being able to make it right for him.... Thanks everyone for the support...... and many continued prayers.....
