OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

AMEN, Lala.  Hoping there will be no more fatalities...and that those responsible will be found and brought to justice!

Many thoughts and prayers for all those in Boston affected by these bombings. So sad that our country has been attacked again. No news who did this but whoever they are from some other country or our own I hope they are caught very soon. There is a person of interest in custody. They don't know yet if it is a victim or perpetrator. We have heard from our family members who live there and they are fine. Some of them can't get home but at least they are okay. I hope all of your families in that area are okay as well <3

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners! Taking top honors for the non-integrated (all-male) divisions was Div. 153, and taking top honors for the integrated (male-female) divisions was Div. 923.

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Praying for all the SR's still needing to do their PFA's and also for those with Battlestations coming up! My only saving grace this week is that I will be covering for a colleague who is out. While I am not at home the candler is lit on my phone!

Have a great Monday everyone!

I have mine lit on my phone at all times and will continue to have it lite until everyone has made it to PIR!!! When I am home I lite my actual candle.

Lighting blue candles is a tradition in the Navy when your SR/sailor is going through a hard or challenging time, deployed....or....just when you are thinking of him/her.  So if any of you have them, you may want to light them!

Good Morning everyone! Only 4 days until we can hug our sailors :) Love that word Sailor. For 155/156/923 and anyone who is redoing part of the PFA  my prayers are unceasing for your SR's. I have faith that they will all be at PIR with their divisions!
