~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Martie: Suggested good pizza places:
Silo
Giordanos
I understand there are other good ones too, but those are the two that are mentioned the most.
momofsix: That is fine...as long as you don't block someone's view when doing it!
T minus about 4 hours before I'm a Sailor calls from 151-154 could start coming in! Phones close by!
Debi: The insurance card is fine. For those renting a car, they need the rental agreement.
lighthouselady: Yes, you can video in the PIR Hall! Just not outside on the base...no pictures of any type allowed outside on the base. You can also order the PIR DVD if you like at the NEX after PIR....if your sailor didn't order it. It is $29. I was glad I invested in that since I didn't spot my sailor during the ceremony! Finally saw him on the DVD!
Good morning everyone. Holy cow!!! ONE week!!!! I hope the weather cooperates with our traveling times!
I have a question about recording the PIR also. Can we use our ipads?
Happy Friday Everyone!
"Let your eyes look straight ahead,
fix your gaze directly before you.
Make level paths for your feet
and take only ways that are firm."
Proverbs 4:25-26
Good morning! Here's a thought....
As of this morning, we are officially the first PIR Group on the list!!! OMG...did you all think it would never get here when that countdown clock was reading 56 days til PIR???
Lighthouse lady, I know we can take regular cameras into the hall but NO pictures outside the hall or on the grounds. I don't know about a video camera. I know I am going to see about getting the DVD of PIR from RTC if my SR hasn't already ordered one.
Martie..I would bring your insurance cards. The car rental agreement works as the registration from what I've read.
I have the same concern s Debi-I m renting car-should I bring my personal insurance? Also my SR has requested authentic Chicago deep dish pizza-best place to go?
Good morning everyone. I am starting to pull all the stuff together for our trip to Chicago next week. I am curious as to whether we are allowed to take a video camera into PIR? We would like to take our own video of the ceremony. What about regular cameras?
Good morning all! Oh my oh my..one week left!! I am so excited!!
Question..maybe Lemonelephant or diannep would know the answer..For PIR I know you need your vehicle registration and proof of insurance. Does the insurance card need to have the $$ amounts for coverage on it or can it just be the general card the insurance company sends you showing the dates of the policy and the policy number? I don't want to get to the gates only to be turned away because I don't have the right paperwork.
thanks!!
