Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son is Ship 13 div 131     Has anyone received a personal letter from their SR yet?

I missed a call from my son today. Just a quick call to get a neighbor's contact info for his security clearance. He did leave a message and then reached my husband. I'm so sad that I missed talking with him, but so happy to hear the stress in his voice from the night he got to boot camp was gone.

kellerjzz ~ Thanks for the proper zip code.  Hopefully, my first letter will still get to him.

I sent you a friend request on navyformoms.com.  Not sure how that works, but I think if you log in and check on the left side of the page there should be a request from me.

So excited to find another mom with a SR on Ship 02, Div. 924!

diannep, Thank you for the info! I'm so grateful. Can anyone tell me where Sarges  MeetandGreet is held at?

Comment by diannep on March 6, 2014 at 4:47pm

We stayed at Residence Inn and really enjoyed it!

Comment by diannep on March 6, 2014 at 4:46pm

Recommended hotels by others on this site who have been there:

Navy Lodge Great Lakes....one mile from RTC....book in your SR's name unless you have military ID yourself.

Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express.....all of these are close to Sarge's MeetandGreet which is the night before PIR...held for you all (sadly, no sailors will be there...sigh).  Be sure to call these hotels direct and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.

Traysea:  Southwest Airlines only flies into Milwaukee or Midway.  Yes, other airlines fly into OHare, but if you go Southwest, you have to pick the other 2 airports.

OHare is the closest airport, but only about 10 minutes closer than Milwaukee (time-wise, not in distance).
