OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Events

**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Does anyone in this group live in the central FL/Gulf Coast area? New Port Richey, Tampa, Clearwater, Orlando? Would you like to come to a Navy Mom Meet and Greet On Friday May 10 at 7:00pm at Rusty Bellies in Tarpon Springs at the Sponge docks? I would love to meet you all, hang out, and talk about our Sailors. Feel free to bring someone if you like. Also please join my FL facebook group so you can stay connected to other FL moms/families and find out about other meet and Greets in the future. We will be there again the last week of June/first week of July and will host a Meet and Greet Party then as well and host a Navy/Military Scrapbook Make and Take party as well. I love meeting my Navy Mom friends :)https://www.facebook.com/groups/147079298773780/

I have been watching for the last several weeks and they don't usually hit until Wednesday or Thursday.

They usually get them up in the week following PIR. Some go up on Monday, some have been Tuesday, some Wednesday. Keep checking!

Everyone should read this story. A recruit at boot camp saved a sailor's life! How awesome is that? It would be amazing to be able to find his family in one of our PIR groups :) A Great BIG Bravo Zulu to him for a job well done!!!

Had a wonderful time at PIR and met some great people. Had some great time with my son and met some of his buddies.  Did not make it to the meet and greet but spent time with another of my bonus sons in Chicago all day Thursday, had not seen him since he moved to Chicago a few years ago.

Hope everyone had a good trip and enjoying the flow of conversations via text or skype.  You will miss the letters though, just a warning, still send letters they enjoy getting them.

Same here, a great weekend.  Not enough time with son, but he is at A school now and only has to wait a week before his class starts. At least now i can text him.

It was a wonderful week-end but it went by so fast, exspecially the time with my son.  Received a call he reached is A school and is settling in.
