Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I don't care how long my daughter has been in the Navy. I never really have gotten used to it and these videos always make me cry. Thanks for sharing Diannep, it was beautiful :)

Don't you just love these "Flash Mobs" with our military "heroes" coming home to surprise their families?  This one was at Disney World for this family!

Yes, that would be a great idea!  The most we have seen of the capping ceremony is some still pictures, which are a gift---rarely happens!  That was supposed to happen for yesterday's PIR group, or next week's....because the CO was to be there so they were to photograph it....but then he had to cancel his visit...so...no piks of it on FB   :-(

Charlene-Ship12 Div 157,  I agree... I would love to see that moment. All the stress the sleepless nights seem to just melt away at that moment.  I know the Pride they will all be feeling.  I am getting all teary eyed just thinking about it.

That is awesome BrendaHu!!  I wish they would video them when they put on the sailor ball cap so we could see the emotion on their faces!!

Good morning, it has been a while since I have posted on here.  My son is on ship 14/div 162.  We have only received 2 letters from him, but from our last call a couple weekends ago we knew his time was limited.  He is section leader so he uses his time to help his other ship mates.  I am so excited to know our days are getting closer to seeing him again. From when he went in to the last letter I know I no longer have that same boy that joined. I can tell that he is becoming that young man that I am so proud to call my son, my sailor.  I told him in my last letter, when you change from your recruit hat to the regular cap it's ok to show emotion, you earned it. And if by any chance that they play Lee Greenwoods,  God Bless the USA  I told him there is not a time that I have hear that song that I dont cry.  I said listen to those words.... For I and my husband are both ex sailors...... And So Proud our son followed in our foot steps...
